Audacity laid egg #2 but unfortunately it broke also. Very similar to 2019 season. So sad.

Found this on their chat that might explain the second broken egg

SC - 02-06-23 - I'm wondering if Audacity accidentally broke the egg tonight by poking a hole in it when she was going for a fly? In the video you can see a fly land on it, she pecks, and then what I think is a hole that she then drinks something that's leaking from it. This is not to say that there might have also been something wrong with this shell, and that it wasn't compromised in some way and that's why a peck went through it, or that it might not have broken later. But in this case, I'm thinking that Audacity accidentally pecked a hole. The next time we see it is when she gets up after Jak's visit and it's visibly broken. I looked at the other egg views where she was rolling it after she laid it, and the egg didn't seem broken yet, to me. This video is just the incident I'm suspicious of, with slo-mo repeat. (I have a full length video of her laying the egg to the break that I'll post to YT sometime tomorrow). Any thoughts? Not trying to make waves with any other theories, and in no way saying I'm correct . . . that's why I'm looking for opinions. This footage is also still on the playback if you want to view it directly.
Janntonne Mod nighteagle007 7 hours ago Wow! Good catch & super video. Looks like a real possibility. Hope that means that egg #3 will be good.
* Tim nighteagle007 13 hours ago Hello Nighteagle! Nice catch. I missed that watching it live. I think I agree with you. It sure looks like she may have accidentally poked a hole in the egg.

Thanks Farniente; keeping my fingers crossed for these eggs. I can’t believe Audacity lays so many eggs; just like before when she laid a 2nd clutch after losing her other eggs.

Sadly egg #5 did not make it; chat was not sure exactly what happened, whether Audacity stepped on it or it broke when she rolled it. So sad for this pair and nest.

2023 Season:
Breeding birds were Male A-40 (Jak) and Female A-48 (Audacity)
2/3: First egg laid around 13:27.
2/6: First egg broke in early morning. Second egg laid around 14:32, but broke within 2 hours.
2/9: Laid third egg around 13:40. Broke later in the afternoon.
2/12: Laid fourth egg around 12:49. Broke within minutes.
2/15: Laid fifth egg around 18:19.
2/17: Fifth egg broke before 01:00.
2/23: Laid sixth egg around 17:57. Broke immediately.
2/27: Laid seventh egg around 17:23.
3/2: Laid eighth egg around 13:08. One egg broke by 23:00.
It’s amazing that she lays this many eggs in succession and so sad that they keep breaking.
SC 1804: LOL — Bird bails from the tree at left as Aud arrives for her shift. She snacks on nestovers before incubating, and cam goes to highlights — egg looks OK, but view isn’t good.
