2023 Season Summary
Based on information from IWS's West End Nest History page https://www.iws.org/west-end-nest-history and information from Facebook, the pair moved to a new location out of view of the cams. Two chicks were seen as of April 10, and may have hatched by April 2nd. They were banded on May 15 as 39/D and 40/D, both male. 39D was subsequently named Starlight, and 40D was named Scout. Scout made his way to the ledge just below the traditional nest on June 13; it's being considered a fledge since it required flying. Starlight also fledged successfully, though I haven't seen an approximate date.

Hello,
West end Thunder and Akecheta have a new nest since last year, they raised two eaglets (2 boys) in 2023 season.
Season 2020 (their first year together after Superman disappearance) and 2021 were hard to watch but in season 2022 Akecheta turned to be a great 3 eaglets parent.
The new nest is below the old one, more secure from ravens perhaps.
I'll try to follow it this 2024 season.
This place is far below the nest. They sleep here it seems

You can read this nest history on https://www.iws.org/west-end-nest-history
Adult Male A-61 (aka Akecheta) hatched at the Los Pinos nest on Santa Cruz Island in 2016. Has silver band on left leg and orange band on right leg.
Adult Female K-91 (aka Thunder) hatched at the Two Harbors nest on Catalina Island in 2009. Has silver band on left leg.
She's Chase and Cholyn's daughter.

The new camera is fantastic.
Both at the nest, then Thunder decides it's time to explore and Akecheta can't help but follow her.

What I prefered about the old nest were the flying in and off of Thunder and Akecheta, view was terrific.
