Superman has not been seen since Nov 8, 2019 and although he has a history of taking a vacation in the fall we are a bit worried about him. Superman hatched in 2000 so he is 19 this year if you count his hatch year.
There has been another eagle in the WE territory perhaps look for a mate.
Here is a collage of a few captures I took of Thunder this evening as she waits for her Superman.

Superman has not returned to West End.
A new young male A61 Akecheta has taken Superman's place.
Thunder and A61 have been spending lots of time together strengthening their bond.
Three matings today i believe.
This is a video i did from yesterday it is cute.

There's a bit of catching up to do here....
As Debs reported, K91/Thunder was not initially interested in A61/Akecheta when he tried to court her - but as it got closer to nesting time, and he continued to come around, she accepted him as her mate.
The pair produced their first egg at 4:15 pm on February 20. Thunder did her usual great job incubating the egg - and taking breaks as needed; Akecheta's instincts have not kicked in yet - he sometimes guarded the egg, and approached it and may have tried turning it - but he didn't incubate, and he was as likely to fly off after Thunder as to stay on the nest while she was away.
Dr. Sharpe noted in Chat that is was warm enough that the egg could be left alone, and fish are close, so she might be able to raise their chicks without a lot of help from Akecheta this year.
She laid a second egg on February 23 at 6:13 pm.
And the next day, around 2:37 in the afternoon, both adults were away from the nest when a pair of ravens arrived; they carried off one egg, and ate the contents of the other at the nest, making a mess of the neat nest bowl in the process.
Both adults have been working on the nest, and they've been seen mating. Thunder laid three eggs last year, so she may still have another egg in the works. Or she might produce a second clutch in a month or so - all we can do is wait and see - and send good thoughts.

Fund Drive for Hard Drives
Good afternoon, everyone! I have just learned that we do not have the hard drives we need to record our cams as we approach little chick time - and we do not have the funds necessary to buy them.
These are the high resolution drives that are connected directly to the cams at the site, making it possible to record high quality videos of events at the nests - and we usually have them up and running before the eggs are laid. As you know, we already have eggs at three of our four nests, and they are likely any day now at the fourth nest - so time is of the essence.
Our tech person Ken is estimating that it will cost about $7000 to buy the high quality, high capacity drives needed for our 9 cams, and while we are keeping up with our regular monthly expenses, we don't have the extra money needed to buy and install the hard drives.
I know this is a hard time financially for many of us, with many businesses closed - but it may also be a time when some of us are staying home and watching the eagles after cancelling planned trips or dinners out - and I'd like to ask those who can to contribute towards these hard drives.
