A fairly zonal flow will maintain below normal temperatures through the end of the week with only minor warming. A new Pacific Storm will roar into the Pacific Northwest by the weekend digging south through our area with more rain and snow looking increasingly likely.
Expect mostly sunny skies out there today as highs creep back into the lower 50's, southwest winds around 5-10 mph at times. Little change through Friday as daytime highs top out in the mid 50's with overnight lows generally in the 20's.
A large trough of low pressure over the Gulf of Alaska will dive south and move inland Friday into Saturday to our north. This system will push a disturbance and associated cold front down into Southern California Saturday afternoon. Clouds and winds will increase on Saturday with rain and snow showers developing later in the day. This will not be a particularly cold storm for us, but we could still see the snow level drop to around 5,500-6,000 feet by Saturday night with a few inches of snow possible. Rainfall amounts of around a quarter to three quarters of an inch look possible across much of SoCal with amounts near one inch on the lower coastal slopes. Showers will likely taper off on Sunday with cool and breezy conditions continuing into next week. This storm is still a little ways out and a lot of details will change.
