Good morning, everybody!
Happy Tuesday!
1:18 am Fiona is back briefly Bensweather.com Forecast Updated: Tuesday, Aug 16 @ 12:13am
High pressure over Colorado continues to draw monsoon moisture into the Desert Southwest, with Southern California on the western edge of the flow. Residual mid and upper-level moisture will keep a few thundershowers in the forecast through the middle of the week, but less widespread in coverage than in recent days. A tropical disturbance that made landfall over Southern Texas will be drawn northward into the area later this week with increasing showers and storms by the weekend. Expect partly cloudy skies out there today with an isolated shower or thunderstorm possible. Warm with highs in the lower 80's, southwest winds 5-10 mph during the afternoon, except gusty around any storms. The onshore flow should keep much of the action to our north and east through tomorrow with the greatest risk for storms over the eastern half of the valley. High pressure will move back into the Four Corners Thursday drawing deeper monsoon moisture into the region Friday through the weekend. This could lead to widespread showers and thunderstorms with an elevated risk of flash flooding. Always seek shelter indoors if a thunderstorm approaches your area as some storms could contain locally heavy downpours, gusty winds, lightning, and small hail. A stronger onshore flow is forecast to develop over Southern California next week temporarily shutting off our month-long run of monsoonal thundershowers. We do still have about a month left in monsoon season and moisture is likely to return!

*** FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON ***
High pressure over Colorado continues to draw monsoon moisture into the Desert Southwest, with Southern California on the western edge of the flow. Residual mid and upper-level moisture will trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms through this afternoon, decreasing a bit tomorrow as some drier air filters in. A tropical disturbance that made landfall over Southern Texas will be drawn northward into the area later this week with increasing showers and storms again by the weekend. Expect mostly cloudy skies for the remainder of the afternoon with a few thundershowers. Warm with highs in the lower 80's, southwest winds 5-10 mph during the afternoon, except gusty around any storms. The onshore flow should keep much of the action to our north and east through tomorrow with the greatest risk for storms over the eastern half of the valley.
