11:30am - One eagle (juvie?)...A Large bird flew in low from the west and then flew off towards the right going behind the overhang branch at the pond.

Journi,
I checked your time stamp for video purposes. This bird is a crow. They are good-sized birds.
11:30:15. We have both Fish Crows and American Crows in Florida.

Re: SW Florida Eagle Cam 2021~2022
Afternoon peeps!
Here come the storms rolling through again.
12:31 pm The bone yard is getting a nice bath.
12:39 pm Appy and friends are hiding out under the Oak tree. Waiting for the storm to pass. Wonder if H & M are perched in the Oak ?
12:43 pm I have not see ANY eagles. Only thing I have seen are fish jumping in the pond. Must be bugs on top of water they are jumping for? Or the rain drops, they think are bugs. @12:01:05 huge fish jumps, (breached) under the overhang branch, (right side). Perfect time for M to be fishing in the pond! Easy pick'ins

Androcat - I have lived surrounded by nature and wildlife all my life, so I know very well just how large crows can be.
After reviewing the 11:30am Pond Cam video many times during and around this time-frame, then capturing and enlarging my s'caps to get a better/closer view of this large bird...and since the fact that this large bird is too far away to properly identify... I am going to call what I captured and documented this bird sighting a...
"Large Bird" ...that flew into the pond area.
Also...The SWFEC banner stated that one of the adults flew into the same area, from the West, at around the same time frame...11:32am.
So, there was this Large Bird flying from the west and into the pond area just a couple of minutes before this adult arrived.

The storm have passed. Horses are grazing again. Ducks are swimming, and "baby Loch Ness" silently floats across the pond.
12:59 pm I have been entranced by the mirror of the pond. Did not notice a "large bird" perched in the snag. Was also in last s'cap!
1:55 pm Nest tree says thank you for the water. The sun paints pretty colors on the clouds. Must be up there somewhere.
1:56 pm *Journi like the large bird thing. Going to use it too.

Lovinnature - Since there are so many birds flying around and most times they are too far away to properly Identify...
I, too, will continue to document/report: Large Bird from now on if I cannot capture a close up s'cap of what I see.
We are all trying to see if E20 is still in the area for documentation purposes... we can only try do our best!

Journi,
Large bird sounds great
Just didn't want folks thinking this was an juvie eagle at 11:30:15. I am just trying to be helpful, as I always am, with the bird ID's here.
I scapped and posted the 11:32AM adult, so I did see that too!
Everyone does wonderful on here with posting! I agree sometimes it is not possible to ID what we see.
Enjoy your afternoon!

Re: SW Florida Eagle Cam 2021~2022
Androcat - With the juvie that was documented yesterday, I wanted to see if that juvie had returned. That is why I spent extra time enlarging my s'caps, adjusting the lighting...and even tried to get a better wing flight angle s'cap of this "large bird".Androcat wrote: ↑Fri May 20, 2022 11:22 am5-20-22

Since this forum is for documenting this urban eagle family... and with having so many different birds flying around... I know we all try to do our best to be correct in our documenting.
Have a great weekend... ~Journi

Journi,
You did great, and we all appreciate your efforts ! And I appreciate the time stamp also!
Again, I was just being helpful by identifying the bird.

Here is my video coverage from 5-18-22 after E20 left cam view soaring.
Link: https://youtu.be/xwdLxlrSSTs
"SWFL Eagle Cam 5-18-22. Life in the pasture after E20 left to soar; M15 flushes stork; Harriet ."
The day was quiet; the only difference is we saw the adults perching in the pasture more than we have seen since the E's fledged. The adults were in and out of the shade trees around the pond. CamOps provided closeup views of Harriet. E20 did not return after soaring, and has most likely started their first migration. H&M roosted together in the nest tree as darkness fell. Time stamps provided.
Here are a few scaps from the video.
5-18-22 1418. E20's fave Anhinga to swoop, and a turtle swims by. 5-18-22 2004. Harriet. (Thank you, CamOps, for the amazing closeups!) 5-18-22 20:23. Snoozy M15 (closest to cam), and Harriet, preening of course. *Cam tour of area included in video, as CamOps checked around for E20.
