Wonderful news I hope Stan! At least for sure wonderful for the fledgling you saw and PNE's sign to keep dogs away and contact OWL if one is spotted grounded. :thumlft:

Yes those signs are a nice addition to the nesting area Sandra :)

As of observation session #2 today, after checking everywhere and just heading home, I spotted the remaining smaller eaglet perched on top of a old power pole right beside the Sanctuary pond. I've seen this before and should have remembered the eaglets waste no time exploring the area near the nest once they fledge ;)

Still one completely unaccounted for :puzz:

Hi Sharon, Stim, Marg, Vicky, Stan, Karen and all that love these eagles.

These pictures were made on July 11th.
That was the day that Joey made it up to the nest again.
Both eaglets look happy and are sitting around what was left of the nest.

Here one can see one of the 2 patches that were left after the nest fell down.

A happy beautiful eaglet.

So I'm a bit confused. First I heard that both eaglets had fledged. Then I came to the forum and it seems as if one has surely fledged but not sure about the other one. Is that correct?
As it sits at present Karen one eaglet has fledged and has been seen at multiple locations around the park all day. The other eaglet has reported to have been seen on the ground this morning but the info I was given is that it is capable of short flights. No idea if it made it air born again and moved on or is hiding out somewhere around the general nest area and park :dunno:

All I know is that I've been over 4 times today and successfully only managed to see only one eaglet at a time during each visit. Annemie was over a few times too and had a good look around. Angela from OWL was there tonight doing a sweep of the area but no luck.

Good news to report! :announce:

Both eaglets observed this morning :)

First up thanks to the early risers Vicki, Angela from OWL and Diana for starting the look around the Sanctuary grounds :grhug:

When I arrived Vicki was still there and gave me the story. Apparently the missing eaglet was down in the forested west ravine area next to the pond. When it heard the breaking of branches and twigs it took to the air and flew to the opposite side of the pond. When I arrived it was about 45 feet up a small fir tree perched on a branch near the pond path just down from the Circus West building on the PNE grounds. The other eaglet was up in the remains of the nest eating a recently delivered breakfast

Hopefully the now accounted for one will head up there soon to join in on the fun :luck:

Great news Stan as well as rallying of troops! The low flying eaglet should gain height quickly I would think. :luck: :grhug:

So happy to hear the news, Steamer! Eaglets are a lot smarter than we give them credit for sometimes!

Thanks for calling me Annemie, had a mini family reunion all day and evening and had to have a nap before I could even think of reading the forum!

:announce: Happy Fledge day for Joey and Darla :huggie:

Eaglet 1 flew to all the trees in the park that were Pa's look out trees.
How fun it is to fly. (S)he was making loops around Hastings lake and then back home. :mihihi:

A flicker was annoyed over eaglet 1 landing in the tree it was sitting on.
It started to give eaglet one a hard time.
The eaglet however did not pay any attention.

Hast. July 14th, 18, d.jpg
Ma was sitting all alone in the nest tree.
She could see eaglet 1 at all times but where was the other eaglet?
Hast. July 14th, 18, e.jpg
Eaglet 1 kept flying all over the immediate area having so much fun.

Ma and eaglet one.

Hast. July 14th, 18, h.jpg
This is where the hunt of the disappearing eaglet started, it was about noon on July 14th.

Stan, Diane, Vicky, Angela from O.W.L. and I searched for the eaglet all day on and off.
We could not find it.

The next morning on July 15th at 6 a clock so I understand Diana, Angela and Vicky took the search up again.
By the time Stan arrived at the park at 8 am the eaglet had been found. :woohoo:

When the little lost eaglet flew home yesterday it landed above what was left of the nest.
Both eaglets seem to celebrate being together again.
They sat so close together it looked like they were hugging. :rh:
