Pa flew in and landed in the third tree to the left of the driveway.
This was yesterday at 8:43 pm.
I am looking closer can you see Pa?
Looking closer again.

There he is. I haven't seen him in a long time.
Pa looked like he was very hot.
Pa also looked very slim, I almost did not recognise him he looked so slim.

It is the driveway and parking lot that leads south out of the park onto Hastings St. Karen.karenbills wrote: ↑Thu Jul 19, 2018 11:30 pmAnnemie - I don't recognize that driveway in your picture. Where is that?
On the left is the lake and to the right is Circus West.
Pa is sitting on the tree where they had build their first nest at the PNE grounds 2014/2015.

Very quiet today folks.....
Both eaglets out on an adventure it would appear.
Ma Hastings was perched on a branch of a tree a few west of the nest tree but left shortly after I arrived.

Both eaglets were back last night. One put on quite the show sitting on the top of a power pole then making several flights around the park. The other eaglet was content to sit high in a tree near the Japanese gardens during our visit.
The only downside was the further uneaten prey under the nest tree...what a waste Since the last of the nest came down there's nowhere for the parents to drop food and the eaglets haven't figured out how to hold on and deal with it.
A very mature baby seagull was sad to see....not eaten at all. And a dead rat which I've rarely have seen under the nest.
This morning one of the eaglets flew over our place at 8.30 AM making a beeline towards the nest tree with several new "friends" in tow

Both the Hastings eaglets are still around folks.....
One spotted up on a tree just west of the nest tree. The other flew in and did circles above us where we were sitting by the pond then headed off in the direction of the nest tree.
When we headed home they were both sitting on branches of different trees waiting for a food delivery. Speaking of which still more uneaten prey on the ground. Saw an uneaten vole under the nest tree today.

Thanks for the video Annemie!
Re: Hastings Street/PNE Nest, Vancouver - 2018
July 25: I've popped by on most days since the eaglets fledged on July 14 and 15. I didn't spot them today, but usually see the eaglets in the nest tree or adjacent fir trees, calling out every so often for mom. The crows that fly overhead to the crow rookery in the evening seem to be leaving them alone.
I noticed a mouse trap below the fir trees last week and see it's still there. That may explain the beheaded rat I saw on the ground after July 17. I saw the recent vole that Stan mentioned, but no other wasted food since July 17, unless it's caught in the branches. So hopefully the eaglets aren't losing any more food. So happy that Annemie caught a photo of pa, good to know he is still around and nice to know that Stan and Annemie have seen the eaglets flying around.

Re: Hastings Street/PNE Nest, Vancouver - 2018
Hi Karen. You were asking about the driveway that Annemie mentioned about. The entrance is by the blue booth at Hastings Street, near Renfrew. I call it the blue booth entrance.
Attached photo: The Hastings Street sign is pointing east to the eagle nest tree down the path on the right. The eaglets like to hang out in these tall fir trees. There is another fir tree to the right (west) of the blue booth where the eagles also hang out. This tree is also on Hastings Street at the Momji Japanese garden area (not shown in photo). The cottonwood tree is across Hastings street where their nest was a couple of years ago.

Re: Hastings Street/PNE Nest, Vancouver - 2018
I made some pictures the day I took the video.
I thought they were too nice not to share
but
seeing the eaglet sitting on the electrical line is quite worrisome.
I am happy you liked the video Marg and you are very welcome.

Now some not so nice picture of prey under the nest tree.
Someone put five Koi into the pond and I think this is one of them.
They are huge and should not have been put into the pond.
There are some very upset seagulls around the nest.

Re: Hastings Street/PNE Nest, Vancouver - 2018
Some life wasted as the eaglets have to learn to eat prey on a branch.
I hope though that the eaglets get enough to eat in this heat. Vicky was so nice as to remove the rat as Diana told her that the rat might have been poisoned.
Thank you Ladies.
