I went back to the nest this morning just after 9 am and the eaglet doesn't appear to have moved, or if she/he it isn't by much. No adults around, which isn't unusual if they are out looking for a meal. But, no calling or movement from the eaglet, again :-(

I can't even get a decent clear picture to see what's going on due to not having my large zoom lens so the pictures are very grainy if you try and zoom in on them.

This is unusual Karen, especially considering we are in the last week of Aug. I will try to get down there soon as well, not that I can do any more than you have been doing. :( :chin:

I honestly don't think the eaglet is still alive, but with not being there all the time really don't know if the adults are still around at times or if the eaglet does move and call out. Just too quiet each time I've been there lately, at different times of the day. There has been none of the usual activity and noise seen in previous years. Just really sad to think that the eaglet may have been starving or suffering from the heat or ? I hope I'm wrong.

I wish I had run into the woman living on the right hand side of the road again, when I spoke to her before (think 2019 ?) she knew exactly what was going on with the nest and where the eaglets were when they fledged so seemed to be watching closely.

I was at the nest Aug 26 and spoke with the neighbour, Barrie. He hasn't been hearing eagle sounds for "a few days". My photos look the same as your last ones Karen. The eaglet must have died, parents flown north. A very sad ending to our eagle season here, sad return for our eagle couple.

Sharon thank you for preparing this thread to move into our new nesting year.
It looks like an eaglet died in the nest last summer, the year with extreme heat for many days in a row.
We only ever saw 1 eaglet so have no idea if there was a fledge here or not. :brknhrt:

I was very pleased to find a fine big eagle in the nest here March 9. Sorry, the sun was at a very bad angle.

My last visit to this nest was June 26. No eagle sights nor sounds. The only sighting I've had was of a lovely adult posted here March 11/22.

.

This post marks the beginning of the 2022-2023 season.

No adult eagles were seen here in 2022. A large youngster appeared dead in the nest end of 2021 season.

I visited this nest March 17. The neighbour pulled in as I tried to see anything in the nest. He assured me the eagles have been on the edge of the nest, noisy, so suspects there will be eaglets. He's given me a check mark with a question mark as his answer. :D
He confirmed that there were no youngsters last year.

Stopped in this morning for a few minutes, I didn't see or hear any eagle activity in the trees or nest but it's always hard to know if there is an adult in this nest if they are down on the side facing the water), the nest looks in good shape though.

I am hopeful here Karen. It could be a while before we see any proof of nesting though.

I've stopped by this nest a few times since my last post, including this morning, and all has been quiet and have not seen any activity in or around the nest. Hopefully the nest is being used but I find it a bit strange that besides how quiet it is there has also been no adult perched in the tree to the left of the nest tree as in previous years.

Will keep checking and hopefully it's just been wrong timing for the visits, but the lack of an adult in the perch tree next to the nest is concerning.

You're marvellous to continue down that road to view the nest Karen!
I figure there must be a new male here as Pa was the percher to the left of the nest. He always made it so much easier to determine nesting must be occurring. :luck: We can still hope and check in.

Finally! On my May 21st visit to the nest I saw both adults. One was in the perch tree, assuming it's the male ? He flew off just after I arrived but quickly returned to his perch. Shortly after a second adult flew in, straight into the nest. Assuming Ma ? It appeared that she was eating something already in the nest as she didn't carry anything in with her, after a few minutes of eating she then went over to the left hand side of the nest and moved down towards the water side, almost disappearing from sight but could still see her head above the nest. While this was happening Pa left the perch tree and flew off heading Chaster Park way. Exciting to finally see some action at the nest, now to see an eaglet or two :-)
