The adult in the nest has been often difficult to see as the nest must be deep. When a adult returns the crows are always close by. I am hoping to see young sometime soon.

I have not been able to see an adult on the nest for a few days. There was an adult perched nearby this morning but I presume that by now, if no chicks are visible, then it must have been unsuccessful.

Yesterday I saw an adult perched above the nest. Today there are two adults in the nest together, but no young visible. What does this mean?

PGully, thanks for posting your observations. My birding partner visited the park today and didn't see the eagles at first, then they both showed up. One went in the nest and then they both took off towards the heron rookery. They went back to the nest to enjoy their meal. She could not see any young and we are now quite certain there aren't any. If they had young in the nest one of the eagles would be in the nest with them. Without having a camera on the nest we don't know if there were eggs and they didn't hatch, or if there were young and they died. I believe the eagles spend time around Clover Pt.

It was tragic last year that both eaglets died and I have not been able to find out if there was a necropsy done to determine the cause of their deaths. It is not unusual for them to not have any young following a disastrous season :cry1:

Thank you Sassyk. I did not know that the adults would go back to the nest, or go back together, to feed.

I have seen an adult BAEA on the Beacon Hill Park nest (above the playground), a couple of times this week, including this morning.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I have not been able to get out to check the activities of the eagles. Therefore this thread will be continuing to include observations, photos & videos of the eagles for the 2020/2021 nesting season. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the eagles will produce offspring this season :luck:

I visited the park yesterday for the first time in many months. One of the eagles was perched in the tree near their old nest. While I was watching the nest from the roadway behind their new nest one of the eagles flew in with a big branch. When I went back to see the nest from the vantage point opposite the washrooms I saw both eagles in the nest. They were busy arranging sticks. It was wonderful to see both of them together and their new nest looks quite big :rh:

This looked like the female perched in the tree next to the nest tree.

I visited Beacon Hill Park on Mar. 31st and saw one of the eagles perched at the top of the totem pole.

I saw an eagle in the nest; appeared to be incubating :woohoo: You can see the beak between the sticks.

That nest doesn't look very sturdy. One more windstorm and it will be twigs on the ground.

Hi Calypso.

The nest looks better from the side facing Chestnut Row. However, I agree with you that from the side facing the washrooms it doesn't look very sturdy :( I am keeping my fingers crossed that this will be a good season :luck:

This is the nest from Chestnut Row.

I visited the park on Apr. 21st. One eagle was down in the nest; looked like it was incubating :luck:

Eagle's head & beak visible on right side of branch in front of the nest.
