On May 26th I visited the nest near Mt. Douglas Park that I reported on earlier. An adult was perched at the top of the nest tree but I did not see any eaglets.

After walking up and down the road a few times I'm sure I heard an eaglet cry softly. I think I captured the top of an eaglet's head just to the right of the branch in the middle of the nest.

On June 4th I received an email and 2 photos from Ann Smith, who had seen an adult and an eaglet in the nest at Hollywood Park. I visited the nest that evening and I was fortunate to see one of the adults perched above the nest when I arrived. It flew off a short while later and after walking back and forth up and down the sidewalk several times the eaglet finally made an appearance.

This photo was taken from the park.

I visited the nest at Hollywood Park on June 16th. It was a bit breezy and 2 ambulances were rushing to the nearby shopping centre so the noise from the sirens might have frightened the eaglet. I managed to capture the adult in the nest feeding the eaglet while I was standing in the park near the ball field.

I could see the adult lying down in the nest while I was standing on the sidewalk down the road but the eaglet did not get up. It was quite breezy at the nest.

I visited the Hollywood Park eagles on June 24th. I was viewing the nest from the back of the park by the baseball field. An adult was perched beside the nest and the eaglet was barely visible. The adult started chortling then flew off, circled around the park then back to a tree close to the nest tree. The adult definitely did not like me being near the nest tree

I visited the nest at Hollywood Park on June 27th with my birding partner. One of the adults was on a branch beside the nest when we arrived. It flew off and came back with its talons full of moss. It stayed in the nest with the eaglet for the rest of the time we were there. This adult was not the same one that I saw the last time I was there. This was the female and she and her eaglet were enjoying each other's company, beaking together.

This photo was taken from the back of the park by the ball field.

I tried to find this nest off Oldfield Rd. a few years ago but had no luck until my birding partner showed me the location on July 4th. There is no closer vantage point so the photos I took had to be cropped a lot. We did see 2 eaglets in the nest but only 1 seemed to be up and exercising its wings. The 2nd eaglet was mostly hidden behind the main trunk of the tree. We did not see or hear any adults in the area, although they could have been perched amongst the greenery.

I have reported on this nest in previous years and we looked through my birding partner's scope on July 4th. We saw an adult perched in a tree hanging over the edge of the water at the south end of Pat Bay. The nest is not easy to see but we found it; there were no eaglets visible.

I viewed this nest from Wain Rd. with my birding partner on July 4th. This nest can be seen from the highway heading out to the Swartz Bay ferry terminal. One eaglet was perched on a branch at the side of the nest.

My birding partner told me of an eagle nest on the Royal Colwood Golf Course many years ago. Earlier this year she was able to find a vantage point from a parking lot near Colwood Corners. I was able to see the nest yesterday when I was in the area. The lighting wasn't the best at that time of the day but I managed to capture the 2 eaglets in the nest, in spite of all the dark shadows.
