Others have seen and posted photos of the eagles in the park,on their Facebook pages, over the past few months. I visited the park on Sunday but sadly did not see or hear any adult eagles. There were new sticks visible in the nest so I am keeping my fingers crossed there will be young ones this nesting season.

I did see a juvenile eagle perched in a tree on Plaskett Place and others have seen 2 juveniles sitting on the rocks offshore at the end of Plaskett Place. They could be from a previous season.

This first photo of the juvenile was taken from Plaskett Place.

This photo was taken from Saxe Pt. Park beside the little bay at the end of Plaskett Place.

I went to the park on May 20th and wandered around for awhile but didn't see or hear the eagles :( I'm quite certain they are not nesting this season :chin: I took some photos of the nest from various vantage points but don't see any signs of new sticks.

I went down the road to the side street and Fleming Beach and while I was standing on the beach both eagles flew overhead. They circled around then 1 flew off towards Macaulay Pt. and the other one flew off toward Saxe Pt. I went back to the park and wandered around again but still didn't see or hear the eagles :(

I visited the nest site on June 20th, and after wandering around the park twice I did not see or hear any eagles. As I was heading towards my vehicle an adult flew overhead towards the nest tree. I hurried to the site and watched them coming and going from the nest with sticks. The male brought in a long stick and was having a difficult time trying to rearrange it to fit into the nest :) It wasn't the ideal time of the day to be photographing this nest; the sun was directly behind it.

The male rearranging the long stick ;) The female is visible through the sticks on the right side of the nest.

I visited the park on June 26th and sadly did not see or hear the eagles anywhere in the park or near the nest site :( I took photos of the nest from different vantage points. Sorry for the poor quality of the photos; the sun was behind the nest.

This is the starting post for the 2022-2023 nesting season.

I have seen a few photos of an eagle, posted on Facebook by a local Esquimalt resident who visits the park quite often. The eagle was perched in their favourite tree down at the end of the parking lot in the park :woohoo: The photos were taken Oct. 13th and another sighting was reported on Oct. 14th :thumlft: Time for a visit to the park :)

A few photos of the eagle nest, taken Oct. 18th from various vantage points. It looks like it is in dire need of some extensive nestorating :(

I visited the park on Jan. 19th and heard both eagles chatting back and forth from where they were perched at the top of their nest tree. They were mostly hidden amongst the branches so I wasn't able to get any good photos of them at that time.

While I was walking around the park I heard them chatting again then saw one fly to a tree behind the washroom building.

A few minutes later it flew off towards the other side of the park.

Jan. 19th cont'd.

I spotted the eagle landing on the rocks offshore.

I heard the other one calling from the nest then it flew to one of their usual perch trees on Plaskett Place.

The eagle on the rock soon joined the one in the tree; they chatted back and forth then they mated :woohoo:

I was at the park with my birding partner on Wed. afternoon. We heard the eagles calling back & forth but did not see them around their nest area. While walking around the grass area by the parking area we saw an adult fly into the big tree on Plaskett Place where they quite often perch. It flew off towards us then flew down to the rocks. We saw its wings flapping so we went over to investigate. The eagle flew up with something in its talons then flew towards the nest tree. We headed over to the nest area and saw an eagle in the nest looking like it was eating. It stayed for awhile then flew off towards the water.

I visited the park on March 27th. I was pleased to see one of the adults down in the nest, appeared to be moving material around.
