Chapman Nest
Welcome to the 2018-2021 Season!
The Chapman nest is located on Highway 101.
Welcome to this thread. Please stop by and say "Hi" if you visit the Chapman nest you are welcome to post comments and pictures here.
We see these eagles fly over our house and head down to the nest which isn't far from the water. We have walked along the rocky beach to view this nest but we also saw it from the Highway which is much easier!
2011, 2012 and 2013 unable to confirm if there were any eaglets
2014 - 2 eaglets fledged
2015 - 2 eaglets fledged
2016 - we believe one eaglet was at this nest this season
2017 - one eaglet believed to have fledged
2018 - possibly one eaglet
2019 - ?

Re: Chapman Nest, Sechelt B.C. Season 2018-2019
The last 2 times I have driven to Sechelt I have seen who looks like a male eagle perched. The first time was in the usual perch tree for this time of year, at the house with the fence on the left as one leaves Davis Bay and starts to climb the hill. On Monday, April 1 it was in a tree at the bottom of the hill, water side of the road, before one leaves Davis Bay on the way to Sechelt. Both sightings made me think it could be the Chapman male as part of nest duty.

Re: Chapman Nest, Sechelt B.C. Season 2018-2019
I also spotted a male perched in the old perch tree by Beach Hideaway this week, opposite end of the territory.
Re: Chapman Nest, Sechelt B.C. Season 2018-2019
This morning we saw one eagle fly over our house quite low and a little later another mature eagle flew by going in the same direction probably heading for the Chapman nest.
Re: Chapman Nest, Sechelt B.C. Season 2018-2019
I will check with someone who lives close to this nest to see if they saw any eaglets this past season I suspect there was one or maybe two. It is a difficult to get to view the tree/nest I am unable to do go there. I plan to keep this thread open and add to it.
This will be the start of the 2019-2020 season.

Several times lately we have seen eagles flying over our house to the location of the Chapman nest!

I'm glad you've seen these eagles Marg. I look at the perch tree just your side of Davis Bay that Pa used the past couple of years but have yet to see him.

Re: Chapman Nest, Sechelt B.C. Season 2018-2019 and 2020
Sandra, I believe they use a tree near the nest close to where Ian lives and also the tree where you see one.

Wow! We are so lucky we got our eagle fix this morning (sitting in our living room) seeing not one but two eagles fly over the roof of our house. They were the Chapman pair we see them fly over quite often.

Update:
I heard from a friend who lives close to the nest he saw Ma & Pa Chapman a couple of weeks ago so they are definitely back.
He's heard and seen activity there over the last week.
Hoping for a good season at this nest.

Re: Chapman Nest, Sechelt B.C. Seasons 2019-2021
My first sighting this fall was of an adult perched in Davis Bay just at the bottom of Bay Rd. Next sighting was in a tree where the houses start out of Davis Bay, at the house with the fence. That's quite a frequent perch tree before nesting season. Then last week I saw an adult perched a little farther up the hill, closer to the nest. Each sighting since the first has been closer to the nest.

Re: Chapman Nest, Sechelt B.C. Seasons 2019-2021
Today on my way into Sechelt I was thrilled to see 2 eagles perched at the very tip top of the big evergreen outside Gourmet Girls. On the way home a couple of hours later, 1 was there. I can't say they were the Chapman couple but could have been!

Re: Chapman Nest, Sechelt B.C. Seasons 2019-2021
Driving through Davis Bay yesterday toward Sechelt I could see 2 bald eagles perched at the very top of an evergreen at the top of the hill, water side before coming to Heather Rd on the right. Almost at the nest site this time.
First sighting I've ever had that close to their nest site.

Re: Chapman Nest, Sechelt B.C. Seasons 2019-2021
Ongoing sightings of adults in different trees on trips through Davis Bay and going up the hill towards the Chapman nest. I also spied a territorial fight going on driving through Selma Park on Feb 3. More eagles this year?
