Hi Everyone,
Just an update on the Pandora nest. I am pretty sure that we have a hatch - yesterday I saw what looked like 3 feedings going on. I am pretty sure there is at least one eaglet in the nest. I will take a walk later, who knows, maybe I will find a broken egg shell like I did one year, beneath the nest.
Pa has been visiting the empty lot regularily again and entertaining us with his visits to the roof of London Drugs!! Always a thrill to see him so close up.

Exciting news - thanks so much, Eastvan Girl! Hopefully you'll have a peek at the chick(s) soon - though I remember Houdini, who seemed to stay hidden almost until he fledged!

Hi Everyone,
Some pics of our Lafarge couple. Pa visiting the empty lot, Pa on his favourite branch and Lady in her nest. Tried my best to get a pic of the little one but no luck.

Hi Everyone,
I am hoping that other ground observers for the Pandora nest can help me out over here. I have been keeping a pretty regular watch of the Pandora nest and I have not seen Lady now since Tuesday afternoon (April 30) and I hoping another person has seen both eagles at the nest since then.
Since spotting the baby eaglet on May 1st (and reporting it on May 2) I have noticed that is seems to be Pa who is attending to the young. And today (May 3) I watched almost all day and it was only Pa at the nest - doing the feeds, flying out to leave the nest and then returning for a feed and then going to his branch.
On Tuesday afternoon I saw 2 new bald eagles flying near over the nest. I saw both Pa and Lady leave the nest and at that point there were the 4 bald eagles in the sky above the nest. I saw Pa return to his branch, the other 2 eagles flew away together and a single eagle (Lady??) flew east. Shortly after that, two bald eagles came back and continued to fly in the area but since then I have only seen one eagle at the nest which I think is Pa. I have no idea if Lady being away has anything to do with the presence of the other 2 bald eagles.
Today while Pa was on his branch I did see a bald eagle fly over the nest and I was so hoping it was Lady coming back but the eagle just flew on South and never came back.
Does anyone have any ideas of what could be going on? Or hopefully someone has spotted both of them and can put my mind to rest.
It is 7:25pm now and I will keep watch until the sun goes down.

Thanks for your report, Eastvan Girl - and do you have any news?

Keeping fingers crossed that Lady is back soon. :grhug:

I didn't see how the eagles were acting towards each other, but a possibility is that this was a pair of eagles that was interested in taking over the nest, and once the male saw Pa, he decided to head out of the area (which might be the one who flew East), while Lady was chasing the female - and may have caught up to her at some point and gotten injured in the process. It makes sense that Pa returned to protect the nest - Lady is bigger and more able to chase off male or female eagles.

Or as you say, this may have had nothing to do with Lady's absence - they may have done a quick chase of the pair, and then something happened to Lady afterwards.

And with luck she'll be back soon, and maybe you'll be able to get an idea of what happened.

Keeping fingers crossed.... :luck:

Thanks so much for getting back to me Judy. I still have yet to see Lady this weekend, but perhaps she will show up again soon. My fingers are crossed, too!!

Lafarge Update,
There are two eaglets in the nest. I can clearly see Pa feeding them both. Unfortunately, there is still no sign of Lady.
I will try to get a photo of the eaglets soon.

Thanks for the update, Eastvan Girl, and I must admit that I have mixed feelings - two chicks are cute, and they will be able to snuggle together to keep warm when they're alone - but it will be more work for Pa to keep them fed. We don't really know how old they are - it looked as if they might be incubating on March 7 - which would make the chicks a bit older than the Surrey Reserve chicks who are a bit over 3 weeks old - but I think the first time you caught a feeding was April 22, which would make them closer to 2 weeks old. Pa's good at this, and it sounds as if he's got everything under control - but it will be easier if Lady returns - and I know we are all continuing to hope for that.
