Hello all fellow eagle lovers,
I hope everyone is doing okay.
I unfortunately can no longer see the eagle tree from my windows as my building is completely boarded and tarped up but I took a few minutes to escape this dungeon of an apartment to go for a solitary walk in the neighbourhood and I was so happy to see 2 adults at the nest. Looks as though Pa has his new mate. How wonderful.
All seems well in his eagle world - I wish I could say the same for ours.
Stay safe and healthy everyone.
Christine

Thank you so much for this very positive update Christine! What a feel good seeing Pa with a new mate must have been! And what terrible timing to have windows covered like that! I hope it is short lived as we go through isolation measures. I love having someplace special like a favourite nest to go to for a quick single person outing with a positive emotional surge.

Fund Drive for Hard Drives
Good afternoon, everyone! I have just learned that we do not have the hard drives we need to record our cams as we approach little chick time - and we do not have the funds necessary to buy them.
These are the high resolution drives that are connected directly to the cams at the site, making it possible to record high quality videos of events at the nests - and we usually have them up and running before the eggs are laid. As you know, we already have eggs at three of our four nests, and they are likely any day now at the fourth nest - so time is of the essence.
Our tech person Ken is estimating that it will cost about $7000 to buy the high quality, high capacity drives needed for our 9 cams, and while we are keeping up with our regular monthly expenses, we don't have the extra money needed to buy and install the hard drives.
I know this is a hard time financially for many of us, with many businesses closed - but it may also be a time when some of us are staying home and watching the eagles after cancelling planned trips or dinners out - and I'd like to ask those who can to contribute towards these hard drives.

Hi Everyone,
Hope everyone is doing well.
Well after almost 5 months under tarps I finally have my view of the eagle tree back. Yay! And I am happy to report that both eagles are at the tree and I just watched them switch places - one out of the nest and the other went in - so maybe there is an egg they are taking care of. So glad to be able to watch the eagles again - it is a bit of solace in troubled times.
Take care everyone.

Sounds like you could have an egg (or 2?). Hoping all goes well! And how nice to have your view back! That must have made for a depressing time.

Hi Everyone,
I have been watching the eagles a lot lately now that my view is back. They have been pretty active at the nest.
And yesterday I was able to watch one of the adults (Pa I think) on the roof of London Drugs for quite a while. He was drinking rain water and hanging out. One of them has also been visiting the old community garden quite a bit, also. Usually every morning around 8 am an eagle is in the garden. I will try to post photos.
Hope everyone is doing okay thru this crazy time.
