Confirmed feedings each evening that I've been down there, usually simultaneous feedings by both parents, so 2 eaglets are alive.
Most times the parents bring fish to the nest--a few unidentified things. Last night one parent brought in something that looked very much like a rat.

Update June 3: kids heads seen poking up above the rim of the nest. 👍
Fantastic news!!! Hope someone can take pictures!

June 6: 7AM one eaglet stretching wings
June 6: ~9PM both parents arrived with a fish each, delivered to nest and fed young simultaneously. Also adding nesting materials.
June 7: 7AM one parent delivered unidentified food to the nest. one eaglet spreading wings (while the other eaglet was being fed).

A few other people & I were all standing under the adult as it flew over us. We were all looking up, and we all independently agreed that it was a fish.

Yesterday, we didn't come to a consensus on what exactly the adult was carrying in its talons, so I would call that unidentified food. (Could have been a frog, rat, fish or other...)

Had a few choice words for this :tt: doorknob riding a motorcycle through the bike park the other day. (I don't think he'll come back.)

bikes are cool (silent) but dirt bikes are motorized and super loud. They also tear up the bike jumps.

Anyways, two little ones poking their heads over the edge of the nest lately. Lots of "wing-stretching" & exercises! Looking good!!

Simultaneous fresh fish feedings at 9pm!

26-june simultaneous feedings at 9:30PM
27-june simultaneous feedings at 9:25PM, then one adult left and came back within 5 mins with even more food!

Young are standing up higher up on the nest (on the edge sometimes) and flapping more vigorously. :thumlft:

Fantastic! So how is the noise/activity situation below the new nest? Is it better or worse than the old one?

Strange, my computer wouldn't load this site for quite some time... Anyways, it seems like it's working again, so here's an update:

The feedings continued (fish or unidentified) and the 2 young grew very rapidly and got more active.
With their increased activity (jump-flapping) plus one particularly windy evening, the nest started to fall apart. It went from +3' across to 1' loose ball of sticks.

July 6 evening, one of the eaglets flew/fell/crashed out of the "nest" into the blackberry bushes. (A few of the lads were down at the bike park at the time.) Diana & husband came and brought the eaglet to OWL rehab center. The second eaglet jumped around on the branches of the nest tree, and hung out in what was left of the nest.

July 11, the 2nd eaglet flew/fell/crashed into the bushes near the bridge. The next day someone (not sure who) came and brought the eaglet to OWL rehab center.

The adults added sticks to the nest for a couple more weeks. They also seemed to be spending some time in another tree about 20m from the nest tree, also adjacent to the bike park. I haven't seen them for a few days now. Probably wondering what became of the kiddos...

The new nest location is a lot better.
The old nest had a road/driveway at the base of the tree, a coast guard base that is under renovation (construction noise) as well as constant boat traffic and the occasional hovercraft (God, they are loud!). There is also an insanely busy walking/biking path and a boat launch/parking area. Last year they were pile driving to expand the boat launch.

The new nest location is better but not perfect: it's closer to the Burrard Bridge (street traffic noise, etc) as well as the Burrard Civic Marina (occasional small boat repairs like grinding, and short-term revving of boat engines 'dry'). It's farther from the water, in a bicycle skills dirt jump park.

Pretty sure the adults are gone now. Eaglets are at O.W.L. and growing.

The old nest is the best location as they have had lots of eaglets and lots of fledges from the old nest the new nest is in a bad place for successful fledges......JudiW who has watched these eagles since 2007 ….Pa Vanier Park is my favorite male eagle of all the nests I watch and a good Urban eagle parent he lost Ma about 3 seasons ago and hasn't found a successful female yet to give him what he deserves as the original Ma had :w00t: :rh: :eag: maybe next season he will find a good mate or keep the one from this season seeing she seemed to bring the eaglets along with Pa to fledge mode. just the nest change is the problem as they used to fledge to the Baird on the Beach tent tops or the roof of the Coast Guard station and always successful, this is the first season they needed to be rescued by OWL ever  :shame: :eag: :eag: poor babies and poor Pa and his new missus he must be devastated not knowing where his eaglets are

Eaglets released:

Message from OWL:
Two young Bald Eagle released back to the wild. They were in care for around a month when their nest fell apart and they ended up in blackberry bushes where the parents couldn’t feed them. They gained flight lessons and feeding skills while in our care and will hopefully continue to do well in the wild.

Here is a video of them being released:
