Re: Chilliwack Bald Eagles Seasons 2018-2022
It's been a while since I've checked this spot but there were usually a pair of eagles in the area but no nest here.
The tree has a lot of damage since I was here last but there is a nest now and seems to be in use.
The last place I checked always has eagles here during winter. The old nest here hasn't been used in many years but there is a salmon stream beside the road so the eagles take advantage of it.

What fun Scott, thank you. Mt. Cheam needs snow I believe. I hope you get some.

What a beautiful day for pictures, Scott. You got a nice array of eagles. I especially like the perched eagle with with the sunlight glow around its head & tail edges. I suppose eagles have halos too.

Thank you Carolyn, Iona, & Naoma (Who will always be with us.)
A nice relaxing two hour drive this afternoon with a few eagles seen. Unfortunately I made a huge mistake while transferring pics to pc and lost over half of them. I was rushed so skipped an important double-check I usually do. This'll be a good reminder not to do that again.

One adult eagle sitting above the Panorama nest in the distance.
That's all I managed to save. I'm still slightly annoyed about screwing up with the other pics.

Wonderful pictures Scott! I agree Naoma will always be with us....she has that spirit.
Picture processing mishaps happen, more often than we wish,
but then again, you get some special ones and that would be delish.....
Your photos are spectacular, but where is the snow on the mountain?
Smiles,
carolyn

Thank you Iona & Carolyn.
Cute couplet. It's been much milder here the past few weeks so the snow has retreated up the mountains.

I went for a little drive this afternoon and checked the nearest 7 or 8 nests. Two had eagles which were sitting on eggs but no eagles around any of the others. The nests did look like they have been worked on.
The first stop was the McGuire/Banford Rd. nest where I had seen both adults last time I was here on Dec. 31st. Today one was sitting in the nest.
This was a nice surprise. There has been nests in this area for many years but this is the first time I recall ever having seen an eagle sitting in one. My memory isn't what it used to be though.

A short distance down the road I noticed two hawks interacting over a field. By the time I could park one had gone but the other continued soaring low over the field and occassionally diving down to grab whatever it had spotted. It didn't get anything on the attempts near me and eventually flew farther away.
Not many eagles spotted but it's always nice to get out for a drive.
