A possible migration! Here's the last footage from the nest cam of 1H2(22) from 8th August. They haven't been seen in Manton Bay since so it is quite possible that she is the first of our juveniles to leave on migration

A second migration? This is the last footage we have of 1H3(22) from last Friday. When do we think 1H1(22) will set off?

Intruder on the nest! Watch how 1H1(22) defends the Manton Bay nest against this intruding juvenile. Bonus points if you can tell us which juvenile it is that's intruding!

UPDATE ON 1H2(22)
1H2(22), the first of the Manton Bay juveniles to migrate was seen at Frodsham Marsh (a popular birding site in north west Cheshire) on Saturday 27th August. She has been seen with fish so we know that she is still eating - it will be interesting to see where she goes from there!

Also from the same post (for people without Facebook) in the comments
"…both Maya and 33(11) have been seen in Manton Bay this morning. Maya hasn't been seen since but it will be a couple of days before we can confirm whether or not she has left on migration."

That was off cam ofc.. wonder if we’ll see her and/or 33 for a quick goodbye

As we come to the end of the season, we talk about the juveniles leaving on migration and the journeys they are about to undertake for the first time.

As we approach the end of the season, it is time (yet again) to say goodbye to the juveniles as they begin their first migrations. On Monday, 8th August, we saw 1H2(22) leave the nest for the last time to be followed, soon after, by her sister, 1H3(22) on Friday, 12th August. We can now also confirm that 1H1(22) (the first of the three juveniles to fledge) has now also left on migration as of Sunday, 28th August.
