Very cool "action" pictures Ferenz......I love the fish flying up in the air! I have never looked at this nest, will stop in from time to time, intriguing.

Zivju ērgļi (Pandion haliaetus) Kurzemē - LDF tiešraide // Ospreys in Kurzeme, Latvia
In 2017, when an online camera system was installed at this nest, Ospreys bred successfully. In 2018, breeding was started by the same male that breeded here the previous year – Teo – and another female named Tija. Tija laid 3 eggs and started incubating them, but on May 1, the live system was damaged by a thunderstorm and we could not watch further developments in the nest. Teo returned to the nest in 2019, but a couple did not form and breeding did not start.
In 2020 Teo and Vita/28 laid 3 eggs, one egg hatched, but the nestling was taken away by a northern goshawk.

Last news, in 2021 two eggs hatch and not so far from the fledge, both osprets, Pipars and Poga, were taken away by a nothern goshawk. :cry1:

So the question could be now, as an artificial osprey nest, is it normal it continues to serve as a goshawk eater ?
May be they have to destroy this nest and let the osprey family finds a new area or buil their own nest...

2021 Cam Maintenance
Matching Drive
Hi everyone!

I've been thinking lately about how wonderful things can come in small packages - mighty eagles like these:
Image
arrived in little packages like this:
Image
(The adults are from French Creek, our newest nest, and the tiny chicks are Tiku and Tucca from Surrey Reserve being fed by Mom Res)

I'm also reminded of how small the window is for us to visit the nests and clean the cams while the eagles are away.

I have been focused on nest adoptions - but equally important are the smaller donations that may not be able to do that much all by themselves - but when they join with other donations, they can be mighty! I was outdoors yesterday during a fairly short but very powerful rainstorm - and it was amazing what all those little drops of water could do when they worked together!

We are only about halfway to our goal of $10,000 towards getting as many of our cams as possible cleaned this summer - and if everyone who reads this was able to donate $25 or $50 (or a bit more if possible) - I think we'd reach our goal.

Image

A big
Thank You!
to all who have donated,
and to our wonderful zoomer teams,
and to all who help in other ways,
posting observations, screenshots, videos, and so much more.

PS - Donations are still being matched - the first $1000 pledge was quickly matched, but I have not been doing a good job of reminding people that there was a second pledge of $500, and so far we've only matched half of that. So at least the next $250 in donations will be matched.

Please help us clean the cams before the eagles return.
