Sorry to disturb the good order but i think the unique month of Life of SE22 deserved it

I won't put any pics from yesterday August 23 and you know why
The last one will be this one from this morning and i have only one title for it

Only one head, Se21. All is done, RIP little Se22.

So if i understand well, this poor little one has been suffering for more than 7 hours in complete indifference before dying.
And this is my last message on that thread :bye 1:

I am sorry to hear this news, though it is not unexpected.

Rest in peace, little SE22, and fly free forever, far beyond the sky. :brknhrt:

Thank you for your documentation of SE22's last days, Philjo - a lovely look at a life that ended much sooner than we hoped. :cry1:

I think I don't agree with you on one point - or maybe it's the difference in languages. I agree that Lady, in the way of eagles, did not interfere to protect SE22 from SE21's attack, and did not try to make the little one eat when there was food that could have fed both - and from a human perspective, that might seem like she was indifferent to SE22's plight. I do believe eagles are capable of more emotions than we have previously thought - but I don't think I'd call her indifferent. Her job (I believe) is to produce at least one strong healthy young eagle each year - and with luck SE21 will become that.

And I know that observers around the world - and the team that runs the cams and chat - were sending every possible good thought and prayer for the miracle that would turn things around, and shedding not a few tears as it became less likely that could happen.

I've always liked the serenity prayer - grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. I hope that I will get to the serenity part soon, though I probably have a few more tears to shed first, and I will continue to send good thoughts to SE21, his/her parents, and the people closest to them.

From Geoff Hutchinson

"The male (Dad) has been absent from the nest for the last few days, Cathy had reported that she thought he may have had a problem with his left eye. In these three photos (I took over 200 over 3 hours) there is only one with his right eye open. Even with SeaGulls flying over and him honking still right eye closed. He may be feeling poorly (cold/flue) he may have had some trauma, there was a young invader in the last few days, there could have been an altercation? We do not know what his problem is, may be there is no problem."

I've been wondering about the status of the dad eagle. It would be nice if they would post something in chat to let people know if he is still around. It would also be good to see if one of the mods are watching if they could post Lady's (or Dad's) fly-ins with food. I guess the chat and close-up cam will probably start back up once 22 is removed from/covered up in the nest.

Lots of unknowns right now and the no news thing is hard on us watchers that want to know more.

I have been watching some and only came to know this cam in the last week or so. I watch a few others and this seemed to keep me interested while I'm waiting on the new season for the ones I watch.

Dad delivered food to the nest yesterday so it is very good sign that he is able to fish. Hopefully he continues healing from whatever was ailing him.
To look for updates the facebook sites are the best places to find them.
Chat regularly gets asked how Dad is doing so that is another place to get daily updates.

About Dad, just before the broadcast is shutdown (August 23)
I saw these two adults
The right one was in the nest and the left one was on a branch in a tree just left of the nest tree
The right went on the branch where it is now and the left one flew down in the nest where it is now
I'm not sure if an intruder "should have been tolerated" in the nest or so closer. For me these are Lady and Dad

And sorry JudyB, but when i wrote about "complete indifference" i was not talking about Lady…! I have a total respect for her as all other raptors i follow or not.

aug 25 nest time.
Dad has been seen today with both eyes open. So that would indicate the problem with his eye since last week is healing . Which makes sense since he has brought food now twice and also leaves these last 2 days. :)
Aug 26 2 :00am. nest time . Lady is standing on nest bowl edge .

8/27/2018.
message from Ranger Judy: "Monday - I have taken SE22's body to Taronga Wildlife Hospital for examination, hopefully to determine the cause of death and take tissue samples for testing for Persistent Organic Pesticides. They will also look for signs of Trichomoniasis, which affected one of our previous eaglets. The eaglet weighed 781gm. Lady removed the body on Sunday morning and we were fortunate to find it very quickly under the ironbark roost. The good news is that the stronger eaglet SE21 is thriving, and eating a bird as I write. Our male Dad also has improved in health, has brought food and fed 21 himself. "
