The Fraser Valley Bald Eagle Festival is Back
– and so are the Eagles

Saturday, November 25 and Sunday, November 26
9 am to 4 pm

There are lots of eagles - and lots more information (including maps) on our website at https://hancockwildlife.org/fraser-vall ... -festival/

Unfortunately, it looks as if we won't be able to release a bald eagle this year as we've done in the past as part of the build-up to the festival - it looks as if the eagles have been staying out of trouble, so OWL doesn't have any eagles ready for release.

But there will be eagles - David Hancock was there yesterday, and got a quick count of over 800 on the river near the Sandpiper, where many of the activities will be.

I won't be able to go (you may know that I live in Maine, so it's quite a commute) - so if you go, please post lots of pictures here! Thank you!

Yes -- the Harrison River eagles & the FESTIVAL are back.

HI All: Some wonderful news!

Not only are we going to have incredible weather for this weekend -- total sun -- with the EAGLES on the Harrison, but the northern freeze-up is now started and the eagles are heading south in big numbers. 35,000 will be passing through here.

Please come to the Sandpiper Golf Course on the Harrison River for this weekend - our Fraser River Bald Eagle Festival is Back - and so are the eagles. This past week we were getting about 1500 eagles daily -- this will increase through to peaks in Mid December..

If you come either or both Friday or Saturday evenings for dinner at the Sasquatch Inn (Highway 7 just west of the Harrison River Bridge) you can join our Hancock Wildlife Foundation Team (at your cost - sorry) 6PM -- we like to meet the local eagle enthusiasts. Please come and introduce yourself and say hi.-- either at the Viewing Stand or at dinner.

The world's best viewing site for bald eagles, the Sandpiper Gazebo, is open to the public FREE -- all weekend.

Both Saturday and Sunday I will be giving a Power Point presentation on eagles -- different each day at the Kilby Post Office Hall -- at 1:30PM -- I will be open for discussions at 1PM.

The Kilby Historical Site is open, their cafe will supplement the Rivers Edge Restaurant at the Sandpiper.

Don't forget to charge your camera batteries and bring big storage disks. We hope many of you will post your best images to: www.hancockwildlife.org. This is where you will find the Harrison Map for viewing sites, the lecture Hall, our cameras showing the happenings at 4 active nests, and you are able to follow about 25 tracked eagles as they wander from here to Alaska and Oregon and back.
