March 3rd: Congratulations go out to Ma and Pa Delta2 on the delivery of their first egg of the season. Congratulations also to their dedicated followers.

Second egg arrived March 6th.

Attention local HWF members:

David Hancock will be interviewed on CBC Vancouver radio (690 AM) this afternoon on the Gloria Macarenko show sometime during the 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. time slot.

Scott just posted, on his Chilliwack eagles thread in our forum, a link that he says might enable our members to listed online.

Same here, Sue. I didn't hear anything after the initial announcement. Dinner time here - and it seems they would have said if he was going to be on later instead?

David Hancock will be interviewed on CBC Vancouver radio (690 AM) this afternoon, Tuesday March 13, on the Gloria Macarenko show at 4:30 pm pacific time (or possibly in the 4:30 - 5 pm segment). This is the interview that was originally scheduled for yesterday afternoon.

Very interesting news~!! Mom Decorah North has laid another egg this afternoon at about 3:20! Amazing!! Her first egg which was laid on February 25th was somehow squashed or broken on the night of March 15th. Amazing that she has started another clutch this long afterwards!! Only time will tell if it is a fertile egg!

We at Harrison Mills are saddened at the loss of Mom and Dads only chick who passed over the rainbow under the comfort of Mom during the night .. Chips was going to be 8 days old today ... he was a spry energetic chick from the day he hatch .... reason for his death is unknown.....

Dunrovin Ospreys, Harriet and Hal, welcomed their first chick of the season last evening at 8:30 pm on day 39.. 2 more eggs are expected to hatch

Some of us used to watch Elsie and Einstein on the Lake of the Ozarks eagle cam - and when the cam went offline, we continued to check their Facebook page for updates. And a little over a year ago, there was a terrible storm, and they initially thought they lost both the youngest of the three chicks and Elsie - but as they continued to search, they found eaglet Junior on the ground but OK, and he eventually returned to the nest - but Elsie wasn't so lucky - she broke a couple of bones in her wing during the storm, and a local rehab group was able to capture her and take her for treatment. There are additional reports on Elsie's treatment there - and she improved a lot, but did not seem capable of the sort of sustained flight that's necessary for an eagle to survive in the wild.

Sadly, that did not improve, and she was recently declared non-releasable, and happily has found a new home, at the Mill Mountain Zoo in Virginia, with a male eagle named Zeus who lost a wing and cannot fly. It sounds as if they are building a new habitat for these two new acquisitions, and are designing it to accommodate both flight-capable and non-flying eagles.
