Temporary Thread for Testing
Temporary Thread for Testing
Added by JudyB - I've renamed this, and am thinking of using it while we try various things - then it goes poof!
This is an example post in your phpBB3 installation. Everything seems to be working. You may delete this post if you like and continue to set up your board. During the installation process your first category and your first forum are assigned an appropriate set of permissions for the predefined usergroups administrators, bots, global moderators, guests, registered users and registered COPPA users. If you also choose to delete your first category and your first forum, do not forget to assign permissions for all these usergroups for all new categories and forums you create. It is recommended to rename your first category and your first forum and copy permissions from these while creating new categories and forums. Have fun!

Hi Pat, I sent you a PM. Can you pick it up??
Try sending one! I had to post 3 times before I was allowed to send a PM!

Re: Welcome to phpBB3
Hi Pat and gemini - I just turned off the requirement for three posts before you could do some things - we can rethink it later once most of the current members have moved over and we are getting actual new members.
Pat - we'll have you an admin soon - testing some things to see who can do what. Stay tuned!

Re: Temporary Thread for Testing
Trying a post by one of my test people.
OK - JudyB2 is a Forum Assistant - why isn't her name showing up in the FA color??
Ah-ha! I forgot to make it the default group for JudyB2 - so the name was showing the Registered User color of blue.
Mystery solved!

Testing Ful Screen Scaps
Original size of "full screen" shot taken from Delta2 cam on new Website;
2160px x 1207px; File size: 367.8kb. (after changing from PNG to jpg)
When the Original "full screen" shot was uploaded to current HWF forum (it was accepted with no further editing to the size) the resulting image size was:
Thumbnail size: 499px x 279px; File size: 30.46kb
When clicked to full screen, the size changed to: 1280px x 715px; File size:130.98kb
View results here: http://www.hancockwildlife.org/forum/vi ... 56#1051456
Tried to upload Original "full screen" shot, size: 2160px x 1207px; File size: 367.8kb to phpBB board and got:
Error
File too large: Delta2 .jpg
Went back to my editing program and resized the image File size to 252.1kb, under the maximum file size of 256kb currently set for the board, using the compression option. (I made no changes to height/width)
I then Uploaded the resized image to the phpBB board and the resulting thumbnail image size was: 499px x 279px; File size: 33.54kb
When clicked to full screen, the size changed to: 2160px × 1207px; (height and width reverted to the same as the Original "full screen" size) but the File size changed to: 246.51kb
Interesting observation: to get the data for the thumbnail image, I right clicked on the image and used the info under the Media tab. When I right clicked the version of the image that had been enlarged, the Media tab didn't have any data so I used the info under the General tab which did. I am wondering now if I am comparing apples and oranges!

Re: Temporary Thread for Testing
A scap 500px or less has "HM9jpg.jpg (25.57 KiB) Not viewed yet" attached to it on the bottom of the scap. (Each time I edit the post the number of times viewed increases)
Definitely a real pain! At least to me it is!
see here viewtopic.php?p=65#p65
(501px x 286px)
(500px x 285px)
(449px x 284px)

Re: Temporary Thread for Testing
Now that David Hathaway has installed the update (Thanks, David!), I have again tried changing the settings so that only images 600x600 and smaller can be posted using IMG tags - and if I'm really lucky here, bigger ones will get a clickable link!
My 600px wide test image
And my 700px wide test image
And that obviously didn't work - back to turn off the part about showing bigger images as links.

Re: Temporary Thread for Testing
I've changed the maximum to 500 px - and am using a fresh post. This worked as I expected on WildlifeCamWatch after I updated that.
A 600 px wide picture
Grumble, grumble, grumble.
Next thought - I was online while David updated the forum. I'm going to close all browser windows and try again.
