2019-2020 Nesting Season

pip seen: April 17, 6:07 pm
hatched: April 18, 10:52 am (39 days)
named: Quebec
branched:
fledged: July 2, 3:07 am (75 days) (Quebec went from asleep to gone in a second - we think something spooked her, but don't know what)
returned to nest: July 7, 9:16 am
last seen:
- Quebec - July 31, 12:38 pm (104 days old - almost 15 weeks)
- Dad (perched) - August 1, 6:20 am
- Mom (at the nest) - August 2, 1:47 pm (last seen in the area August 5, 11:14 am)
unusual event: the two fledglings from the nest to the north fledged around the time Quebec was leaving, and visited the nest and perches in the WR territory a number of times starting August 10 and at least one was there at least through August 28; at least one of their parents was also around, but I think stayed at the edge of our eagles' territory while the youngsters visited the nest and spent time on the bluff platform nest and I'm less sure when he or she was last seen.
2020 Cam Maintenance - August 24 (new West/CU cam; North cam cleaned; nothing done to WA cam; an attempt was made to replace the South/Bluff cam that stopped working.

WHITE ROCK BALD EAGLE CAM 2020-2021

This thread is for Discussion, Observations, Screenshots & Videos solely related to actions/events/ occurrences at the White Rock nest.
When making your posts, please type the time first, then your observation of the activities. Although we tend to want to humanize our eagles, they are wild birds so please try to avoid the temptation to speak for them.

Posting Guidelines
Screenshots and photos and/or links to videos are welcome in this thread as part of the discussion. We welcome all screenshots and videos of the White Rock nest captured via the webcams. Screen captures are limited to three (3) per post and should be no more than 500 pixels wide. Please use the file tag (not the IMG tag) when attaching your captures. Also, make sure you save your captures in the JPEG format.
As a courtesy to viewers with slower internet connections, please limit the pictures in each post to no more than a total of 150,000 bytes. Please do not post animations (though it's fine to post a link to them). Please limit smilie/emoticons to three (3) per post. Also, some members have difficulty with moving smiley/emoticons so please limit those to one (1) per post (of the three (3). Please remember this thread is solely for observation/discussion regarding the events in and around the nest area.
Thank you for your cooperation!

5:09pm - one cam streaming (CU)
Walking in my Seattle neighborhood about an hour ago, heard eagle trills, saw a pair soaring overhead, perhaps locals returning to nearby nest territories.
I'm wondering if Mom or Dad has returned to WR?

Good morning, everyone!

The CU cam is still streaming - so we are making progress! Dvr goes back 12 hours, and I did not see any visits. Unfortunately I did not get to my computer in time to check for a visit at dusk - the Surrey Reserve eagles seem to be stopping by at dusk and dawn (when they stop by, which is not every day) and the Harrison Mills pair is also being seen at that time of day, so if anyone is online when they can check the dvr for those times, that would be great.

I was able to log into the WA cam quickly this morning, which is an improvement over yesterday (and maybe only happened because it's early in BC so there are less people online). It's foggy or smoky enough that the cam hasn't switched to color yet even though sunrise was 25 minutes ago.

And it just switched as I way typing, though it doesn't make a lot of difference.

I also checked the North cam, and it is also OK. With luck Ken will be able to get both of them streaming to YouTube soon - the fact most of the cams are staying up is a good sign.
