Well shoot. It looks like we had a heron visiting earlier. I could only get a screen grab from the inactive stream as it was too late to rollback.

Good catch! It is fun when the thumbnail (or whatever it's called) has something interesting - though even more fun when we can roll back and get more of the action.

What a beautiful and calm morning on the Fraser River.

I'm afraid the cams will be offline for a few days. The internet provider at the site is changing, and it will take time before we have all the information we need to connect to the cams again.

WEDNESDAY MAY 8, 2024

I forgot to post yesterday to report that the cams are back. We don't have a static IP address for the site yet, so if the cams go down, it may take longer to get them back up, but that should be resolved in a few days.

While I was checking the cams this morning, I found we'd had a visitor - not the eagle we'd like to see, but the crow is very handsome.

We have visitors! :D

We have lots of osprey where I live in Maine, but I haven't heard much about the ones on the west coast.

This looks like a pair - need to do some research about when they nest in BC. Incubation is shorter than eagles, as is time before flying, so maybe?

Good morning, Judy! I fumbled my phone and hit reply too quickly. I too am doing some research on Osprey breeding (April through Sept) but this structure is a not ideal nesting platform for Osprey. How exciting!

I don't think they like the crows stopping by!

Glad you're here, CC - I was thinking that our Maine osprey normally nest on open platforms, so they'd be more likely to build a nest on top of the perches than use the one provided down below - but one never knows.

I meant to say "but not" the ideal platform. I'm typing too quickly out of excitement! Nice to see them here.
