G'morning all :)
FWIW, there's been a double fludge at the Duke nest and I've been pre-occupied with that situation.

8:30 pm Anyone got a feel for which is which yet? Were they the same eagle visiting!
Another FWIW, I think the eagle having lunch is the female and the eagle that's putting their house in order is the male.
Why? Mainly because of the way they act. She seems more stoic and he seems more puppy-dog like, has to stick his nose into everything and has to be doing something. And the way his cere hits his forehead seems sharper...more distinct.
Those are my thoughts, but what do I know?🤭
Good question, gemini, and Bill, I think you know quite a lot! And as to who is doing what, that's my suspicion as well (though that's not the only reason I think you know a lot :mihihi: ).

Someone arrived at 7:55 am

He (or maybe she :%: ) looked around a bit, then started tugging on one of the big sticks on the edge of the nest.

And he got it loose!

He set it down, and put a foot on it.

Then tried it in another place.

He looked around again, grasped it firmly with his left foot

And flew off with it!

I thought he might be moving it to the support structure under the nest - the eagles have appeared interested in that - and I was logged into the cam so I checked down there, but he and the stick were gone.

You don't suppose he's planning to move the nest, stick by stick, to a new location?? :w00t:

Glad you caught some of that, Bill! He or she flew off at 2:40 pm.

The adult seemed to be keeping h/h right eye closed most of the time.

But I did see it open briefly once or twice.

I also noticed that he/she has some dark spots on the upper tail - which might be useful for ID if they spend more time on the nest.

She was having words with an uninvited visitor that was doing a flyby.

And then she gave them "the look"!

Sometime before 8 PM I started experiencing a lot of this:

And this:

When I got tired of refreshing, I quit.

12:57 am Today's videos - the last two are heavily edited - they were mostly of an eagle standing around and just looking but a good opportunity to get a good look at facial and tail characteristics.

Thanks so much for making videos of those, gemini - they really work much better than the still shots. :thumlft:

Good morning, everyone!

I just checked the dvr, and someone stopped by the nest around 5:30 this morning - and I think he(?) brought a stick this time. The adult landed on the far left, then kept his(?) back to the cam as he moved the stick to the far side of the nest. And then looked around a bit before flying off.

A comparison - this is from last night
20210520_004.jpg

And this is now - and the lighting is different, and the angle is a bit different though I don't think anyone moved the cam - but hopefully it will help me see if there is a new branch.

It's now 7:42 am, and I didn't see any additional visits in the last 12 hours, but could easily have missed a quick in and out while scrolling through the thumbnails on the dvr.

I think the eagles are not the only ones arranging things on the nest. :)
