Sorry, Bill - the cam does sometimes lose it's focus.
5:58 pm
I went in to move the cam back to either the nest or the view towards the water for the night because I know it will lose focus when it gets dark - but there were eagles in the perch tree, so I left it there. I'll try to remember to check it in the morning as it's getting light and refocus it.
Good night, everyone!

An update from Denise Foster as to the happenings at French Creek:
Sadly, as you may have guessed, our favourite French Creek eagle pair seem to have taken a hiatus from egg laying this year. They're still using the new nest they built at the Marina (and defending it). It's possible they may have built a 2nd nest in the area however I haven't seen or heard anything.
Still lots of eagle action at French Creek Estuary Land, the marina and general area. There have been a number of smaller herring spawns since the big ones in March and quite a number of Chinook salmon here to feed on the herring (along with eagles, sea lions, etc). Also lots of brant (gone now), wigeons, mallards, mergansers, long-tails, golden eyes, pintails and unusually, a small flock of harlequins. Eagles have been taking advantage of the big flocks of ducks/seagulls by culling out weaker ones.
Some videos you may be interested in seeing with thanks to: Denise Foster, chair, Save Estuary Land Society
Ten eagles plus fly ins
The pair on the top of the tree looked "in the mood for love" until the Juvenile hoodlums arrived. Taken at French Creek Estuary land near the artificial nest.

Lots of calling
Immature eagle getting an earful on the Marina pair's favourite perch at French Creek Estuary land.
Lots of calling
Adult eagle, shore, rocks
Immature eagles hanging out on the rocks and an adult on shore all waiting for herring along with sea lions and seals. This is just north of the Dalmation eagle nest.
Adult eagle shore rocks
Oopsie Daisy
This juvenile was doing its best to hang on during one of many very windy days at French Creek Estuary land.

Mom eats gull or duck
The female of the French Creek Marina pair flew into her favourite perch with what looked like a seagull or duck. By the time I got close enough with the camera she was well into her meal. Hard to tell just what she was eating. Video's a little shaky as another windy day!

And just for something different . . .
Pacific Tree Frogs
Froggy went a courtin'. Pacific tree frogs (sometimes referred to as "chorus frogs") can be heard far and wide as darkness falls and into the night. This audio was taken at the pond at French Creek Estuary Land
