Oh, the cows are really marching in, yeah for them. What time do they march home? The size of that flounder a few posts before is astoundingly big. The self feeding is wonderful. Smart chicks! And beautiful.....thanks Ferenz.

July 9 - Eldest chick KC2, now 50 days old, has spent a lot of time looking over the edge of the nest the past couple of days and found a small post to practice perching on. This morning she looked up at the sky for several minutes before helicoptering almost as high as the top of the camera. At 14:48 this afternoon she took her first short flight around the back of the nest before safely landing. She was joined briefly in the sky by mum, Mrs G.

Today the fledging window has also opened for KC3, who is now 49 days old. How long until he takes to the skies?

15 July:

Here is a video of the moment KC3 fledged this morning.

KC3 nearly landed on Mrs G on many occasions during his maiden flight and displaced KC2 who was on the perch before managing to land safely. It is fair to say his first flight was quite the adventure!

We have seen everyone today except for eldest chick, KC2 who was last sighted on Monday morning. There are only four family members in this image. We have not seen KC2 since 09.58 on Monday morning. Has she started her migration already? It is certainly starting to look that way.

Mrs G has not been seen since just before 6am yesterday morning. Farewell & safe journey. :huggie:

KC3 gets a big flounder from Aran. Sibbling KC4 is watching on nest perch and joins KC3 who's covering the fish and doesn't share...
