'MONDAY MARCH 22, 2021

Good Afternoon everyone .... ! I heard from Nova Scotia Power

Dear Bev,

Thanks so much for reaching out. We really appreciate your support of our Osprey Cam and the osprey family at Russell Lake.

As you’ve spotted, we’ve safely relocated Oscar and Ethel’s nest so they won’t be disturbed by construction at the pump house when they return in the Spring.

Unfortunately, we were unable to arrange the appropriate technical setup to install the camera at their new site. To ensure our viewers worldwide can continue to tune in to the Osprey Cam, we’re working with NS Webcams to set up a new webcam at a different nesting site in Nova Scotia in the coming weeks.

We’ve worked on this solution with a number of community partners, with the safety of the birds always as our top priority. While we are sad to say a fond farewell to Oscar and Ethel, we also feel it is a good time to give the osprey family some well-deserved privacy after 10+ years on camera!

We will share the news of the Osprey Cam launch on our social media pages and our website at www.nspower.ca/ospreycam as soon as the new camera is live.

Have a safe day,

Cory | Customer Care | Nova Scotia Power

Thank you Bev for the heads up. It will be exciting to see this new camera and new location. And...it's a good thought that Ethel and Oscar can have some peace from constant viewing. I am also sure that you will be keeping track of those two by your family's visits. Now, the big question....what will they call the new pair? (Ethel and Oscar again?).
It's wonderful to see the wildlife up in one of the most beautiful places on earh.

Yoy are welcome Carolyn .. I think you misunderstood .. they moved Ethel and Oscar's nest from Russel LAKE a busy Residential area to a new location a few hundred meters up the trail for Ethel and Oscar .. it is more private there .

ETA

The folks at Russel Lake will miss them .. the other thing is all Osprey that use that nest will be called Ethel and Oscar.

It's more than just fine Bev. It will be exciting to see where the new webcam will be. Time will tell. Thanks for the explanation.

Your confusion is understandable Bev. My thoughts are that is a PR page and is not current as to having a cam on the new site, yet to be disclosed. I think unless a cam is put there you can proceed with waiting for the new cam somewhere in the Province.
Possibly?

Albeit dreary, still pretty. Thank you.

I look forward to whatever nest is on the new cam...and do not be embarrassed by anything Bev.
