Good morning Carolyn: Clarach is unique.

It's because of her famous Dyfi and Rutland ancestors!

She is a daughter of Monty & Glesni.

Glesni, is the grand-daughter of the infamous 03(97) or “Mr Rutland” as he was known to some – the very first translocated osprey to breed at Rutland Water, who bred for 14 years and raised 32 chicks.

Clarach is the first great-grandchild of 03’s to breed, and therefore her chicks are 03’s first ever great-great-grandchicks!

Clarach is back at her nest in Aberfoyle, Scotland, but this image is of her son taken in southern Spain (near Huelva) three weeks ago.

He's one of the 5% of UK ospreys that never leave Europe, preferring instead not to travel to Africa for the winter.

Thing is, he's due to return to the UK in the next few weeks - as an adult for the first time.

April 28 - We know how frustrating it is to not be able to watch Clarach on the live camera at the mo whilst it’s being fixed so here’s a wee video clip of her and CL today. She’s been doing a lot of nest pruning this morning and they have been actively mating throughout the day.

May 5 at 12:11 PM

Clarach recorded yesterday displaying possible incubating behaviours but we haven't got a clear image to confirm there is an egg at the moment. CL (male) not seen on the nest since 1st May. Clarach now mating with unringed male from Friday 3rd May. Could be the same male as 2018 but we don't know.

Both Clarach and unringed male have been spending a lot of time on the nest together this morning and some mating observed (Sunday 5th May). They have been looking quite territorial. Sorry for the poor quality video.

Hello carolyn & others

Korky wrote 19 May 2019 on Blog pages 32/33:
Another trip to Aberfoyle, and Clarach on the eggs when I arrived, yelling for food (there's no sound on the webcam picture in the VC but you could tell from her behaviour). She turned the eggs a few times, then flew off for a break. The male flew in a minute later and sat straight on the eggs, closely followed by Clarach, still yelling for a fish. She took off again smartish I guess to get her own supper. I've posted the information board they have in the centre. It's interesting to note that her last observed mating with White CL was 30 April, and the first observed mating with the unringed male (maybe her partner from last year) was 3 May. First egg they reckon was laid 4 May.......who's the daddy? They're assuming she's had more eggs of course whose parentage is perhaps less in question! I'll post a few more snaps in a separate post....

The male arrived fishless. She'd been yelling for about an hour before she took off and he arrived a minute later, closely followed by her. Then she took off pretty smartish so maybe went fishing for herself. But the information board says he'd brought her a fish before (14 May) so all seems well. Of course, the staff at the VC aren't able to watch the camera much and if they only had US to watch it we'd see a lot more and could report on it. There's no chance the camera can be fixed now as the pair are on the nest.

No sign of Clarach at all yesterday but this morning she has returned, albeit perched by the nest rather than on it. Nothing else to report at the mo. We'll keep watching
