Glaslyn's resident female Mrs G is back
What a wonderful moment when Mrs G landed on the Glaslyn nest this afternoon.Sheer delight for everyone. It was only a matter of seconds though before she was airborne again and chasing Blue 24. She landed again and defended her nest vigorously. Shortly afterwards she left the nest and returned just over 20 minutes later with a flat fish.

Aran is back

I. Bywyd Gwyllt Glaslyn Wildlife - Glaslyn Ospreys - April 5 at 10:37pm

Just before 6pm this evening an unringed male osprey landed on the Pont Croesor nest with a trout. The osprey looked very much like Aran, but we needed a little more information to convince us that it was him as we know there is an Aran lookalike in the locality. He spent almost an hour and a half on the nest eating the fish before flying over towards the Glaslyn nest.

When he arrived at the Glaslyn nest he did not attempt to share his fish with Mrs G and neither of the birds mantled towards one another. We witnessed this mantling behaviour when Aran and Mrs G first met one another again at the start of last season...

II. Yesterday at 12:31pm

We are almost certain that the male osprey who delivered a fish
to Mrs G at 11:04 is our breeding male Aran. Welcome home.

Gwynant Blue 3R - Monty & Glesni's 1st son from 2014 - is back in Wales around the Glaslyn aerea and mates with Blue 5 F - a spouse of Aran (Mrs G's current mate)

5 F laid an egg this morning at the Pont Croesor nest in the neighbourhood of the Glaslyn nest.

Breaking News

Despite perhaps, the somewhat unwelcome news that 5F has laid an egg which is probably Aran’s we now have perhaps one of the most exciting bulletins for a long time.

Last night one of our volunteers spotted a male osprey land onto 5F’s back. The bird was ringed on its right leg. Who was this bird? Our volunteer thought she could read a number 3 – could it really be? Was that an R next to it? If it was a 3 and an R it would be Gwynant – born at Dyfi on 8 June 2014 to Monty and Glesni.

Wind back the recordings, no recordings at the protection site! Get to the visitor centre – scroll back – patience, excitement – here it is – YES it is him – a Welsh male returned to Wales.

As a youngster he was a very determined and feisty bird – from what we’ve seen so far he’s lost none of it. Aran was at the PC nest as he landed. Gwynant stood his ground as Aran rapidly departed!

Gwynant remained in the area for most of the evening – although he hasn’t been seen this morning that doesn’t mean he’s gone – watch out for more updates and a video this evening.

Congratulations, Llongyfarchiadau to Dyfi.

That is one of the most thrilling things I have heard in a long time Ferenz....From 2014 and back! He made it and in the time frame you might anticipate? Maybe he will take over this nest with her and her egg? Fascinating......

Then and now leads me to say "wow"....
back from a trip, so far, so complex, we cannot understand,
ready to start anew, a handsome one so true.....
Now I cannot possibly be blue (like my screen name)....
