Millions of years of evolution will have given Telyn all the instincts she needs to start feeding a chick for the very first time.

Her five years of experience in the world will have given her none.

And so we've just witnessed that heart-warming moment that all mothers go through - feeding her baby for the first time; the moment innate turns to reality.

Ferenz, so incredible and so quick. She is an amazing first parent. Three hatches in a short time. Bravo.....

Poor Telyn behaves like a visitor in Monty's nest and doesn't dare to push
him off the Bobbles as Glesny often did. He is so deeply addicted to his clutch that I wonder why he has forgotten to go for fish hunt...

Three Bobs: Their First Week

Posted: Thursday 7th June 2018 by Emyr MWT

It's been an eventful few days on the Dyfi.

It's hard to believe, but Bobby One will be a week old tomorrow. Thankfully the weather has been kind and promises to be so for another week until they grow out of that dangerous 10-day altricial period.

As each day passes, their ability to see, hear, thermoregulate, learn and understand the world around them increases. Food has been plentiful with Monty catching a spate of bass this week, along with the odd flounder and mullet.

Hector Hoolie

By late evening 13th June, Storm Hector began to cause some disruption to Monty and Telyn.

Thankfully by midnight they were both squatting down, brooding their chicks working as a team. By 04:30 in the morning Monty had caught a huge flounder - how on earth did he catch it?

Winds were gusting to 60mph early morning and Telyn lost her balance more than once.

Thankfully, 24 hours later we're down to just blustery conditions again with all five ospreys intact and doing great following a further two fish during the day. What a team!

Here's the video:

All ospreys of the Dyfi Gang are well after the storm has calmed down
