There's not much left for Jambo.. so Jambo moves back towards the back of the nest.

It is with a heavy heart that I report the passing of Jambo. The little one passed away in the late afternoon - siblicide/starvation is the cause of death.

These are the posts from SuzAnne on the day Jambo's suffering finally came to an end.

I am so sorry FFF....thank you for warning me about the possibility. I had checked in over the weekend multiple times to see and Jambo was OK at that time. I had hoped for you to see a successful fledge. I found her post about Dunrovin and Hellgate interesting, with intruders and food shortage.

You take care FFF...I know this is hard on you. Jambo, soar!

Thank-you for your kind words Bev and carolyn...

SuzAnne has made an announcement as to what will become of Jambo's body. I already knew she would do this and with it happening before banding this year - Jambo will be laid to rest much sooner that Hoot was last season.

These 2 s'caps were also included with the announcement.

Quote from SuzAnne " Jambo's smaller size compared to the other two really worked against him. Once behind when sufficient fish failed to come, he could never catch back up."

Quote from SuzAnne " The 2018 sign will contain all three chick names: Wakati, Congo, and Jambo "

Suzanne's post is lovely. I am glad Jambo will join them in their long term memories. I am also glad you knew FFF that is what they would do. We are honored to be able to see their lives, even when short.

Saturday July 7th, 2018

Wakati turned 5 weeks yesterday and Congo turns 5 weeks old today - both are doing well with Wakati still being the dominant one of the two.

weather update
july 7 dunrovin weather.JPG

This morning finds both chicks and Harriet on the nest.. Harriet leaves for a bit - returning back to the perch awhile later. Fish begging is heard from one of the chicks on the nest.

These two are so close in markings that it's very hard to tell them apart until such time as a fish is delivered.

I believe this is Congo being cautious near the end of the feeding

Congo gets back in though for a few of the remaining bite's - feeding is over by 10:13 am

10:16 am - the chicks are still hungry - a bit of dominance with Congo starting it and Wakati ending it.
