Adult on duty (maybe Rey - will check back in a minute) stood up and looked around, then did a bit of calling and flew off.
I'm hearing calling nearby - will log in on South and take a look around.

Great closeup of the egg - thanks, North zoomer!

I'm hearing calls but didn't see anyone in a quick look around. There are a lot of branches in the nest tree higher than the cam can look, so one or both of them could be up there.
Let me know if anyone wants South - I'm still logged in, but happy to let someone else take over.

I took a quick peek out my back window. You won't see them as they are sitting on the very top of the south camera tree keeping watch on the nest.

9 am I was zooming in on egg rey took off I can hear them but cant track them
Re: Surrey Reserve 2023-2024 Observation and Discussion
Thanks for confirmation of the switch, Ryan - thought it was Rey based on the eyes and the fact I didn't see the faded spots on the feathers that Brit is sporting these days. (It's my recollection that females tend to molt/replace some feathers while they are incubating/brooding - makes sense as they don't need to do as much flying during that time.

yes brit has that white feather ! and I think she wants rey to lay off covering it for a few more hours , just my opinion but she wants to time the hatchingsJudyB wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 9:08 amThanks for confirmation of the switch, Ryan - thought it was Rey based on the eyes and the fact I didn't see the faded spots on the feathers that Brit is sporting these days. also OUT on CAMS
Re: Surrey Reserve 2023-2024 Observation and Discussion
It does occur to me that there will likely be another egg in a day or two, and they may want a bit of -- umm -- private time to work on that process.
Added - just looked back, and the second egg was just under 3 days after the first one last year, so the most likely time this year is probably around noon on the 30th - though there can be quite a bit of variation from year to year, and we'll need a few more years of watching Brit and Rey before we have a sense of their pattern, if in fact they develop one.

Lunch time here. I moved the South cam a bit closer so we can see them return to the nest, and will be watching on my iPad while I have lunch.
