11:49 Brit is aerating the nest bowl and had her back to us so we couldn't get a look at the egg this time.

Thanks for zooming, Sandy! A couple of pictures of the hatch in progress.

My husband suggested that the flies might help the chick - and it occurs to me (only partly joking) that if I were that chick, I'd want to get out of that shell so I could snap at those flies!

(Note - I haven't seen any of them trying to get inside the shell, and don't think they can do much beyond annoying the little one.)

Added - the chick is moving around and I think I'm hearing the chick peeping - and I want to tell the chick how to break out of the shell, but there is the minor fact that chicks know that instinctively, and my suggestions might be very counter-productive.

12:02 pm Brit flew and we get a good look at the egg. Can see where it is making some progress with the split down the right down of the egg shell. Watching, can see how the chick pushes his/her head against the shell to create an opening.

12:07 to 12:17 pm the chick is working hard to get out of the shell. Looks there is progress on the right side of the egg from when we first began watching. Certainly looks like a little fighter.

Doing well just over 24 hours on the pip I am guessing that membrane would dry as well and just give way?

From 11:59 am to 12:18 pm, can see the opening on the right side of the egg enlarge. The chick would push his/her head against the edge of the crack in the shell to create a larger hole.

Ryan, my thoughts would be that the chick will work its way through the right side/top and around that membrane as may harden. Looks like this little one is determined to get out of that shell. It was constantly pushing its head against the right side crack.

Thanks , haven’t seen the membrane hold in like that and the shell crack off , at least we know the egg was very solid !

11:59 am in rollback, Judy mentioned hearing the little peeps and I had to go back and really listen. Having a TV going in the back ground doesn't help to hear little peeps. I saw this earlier but couldn't find initially but can see the chick open and close its little mouth.
