2:06 pm in rollback, Rey flies in with a very long stick. Brit begins to chatter as Rey eventually moves under her.
“Eagles: When they walk, they stumble. They are not what one would call graceful. They were not designed to walk. They fly. And when they fly, oh, how they fly, so free, so graceful. They see from the sky what we never see.” – Unknown

2:07 pm in rollback, Brit flies off for a nice break as Rey takes over nest duty.
Good afternoon, Judy.“Eagles: When they walk, they stumble. They are not what one would call graceful. They were not designed to walk. They fly. And when they fly, oh, how they fly, so free, so graceful. They see from the sky what we never see.” – Unknown
Re: Surrey Reserve 2022-2023 Observation and Discussion
Thanks, Sandy!
5:50 pm
Doing a quick check of the dvr back to Sandy's post.
Rey was up at 3:25 to do some digging in the nest cup and I think turn the eggs; he settled back in a minute or so later.
Up again at 3:54 pm; it may not be obvious from the s'cap, but he was turning one of the eggs here:
Up again at 4:32 pm. I don't always make a note of when they get up or turn the eggs, but I am trying to see if/when Brit returned, and looking closely any time they change position is sometimes the only way I can catch a quick switch. This was just a regular check/turn for the eggs.
That position may not have quite worked for him - he was up readjusting at 4:45.
5:14 pm
Rey is up and flies off.
Hearing some calling a minute or so later.
This may be Brit who arrives calling a minute later - dark around the eyes, but I think I see the light stripes on her upper back.
She(?) moves in to tend to the eggs.
Up again at 5:51 pm; not seeing the notch in the feather that indicates Rey, and maybe seeing the faded feathers that suggest Brit.
Whoever it is, they are incubating the eggs as of 6:06 pm, and it's been a long day, so I'll say goodnight. Pleasant dreams, people and eagles.

Re: Surrey Reserve 2022-2023 Observation and Discussion
9:23pm.......From the rollback........What was hard to see was that there was a smaller bird flying around the nest rapidly. Brit was very upset and calling out due to it. The first s'cap almost looks like stripes on the tail of the bird making me wonder if it was a red tail hawk, but there really was no way to see any clearer to confirm. It might just be stripes from the wings flapping without it being stripes on a tail.

9:25pm......From the rollback...........Brit did settle down after that and has remained on the nest since then. She has been up and down a couple of times, rolling the eggs and doing a bit of digging.

2:56 am Brit was just up to roll her eggs and quickly returned to keeping her eggs warm and safe. She was up several times to roll her eggs and have a stretch after Jean's last post. Other than that she has been sleeping and the evening has been quiet and peaceful.
Shortly after I posted the above, Brit was attacked multi times by an owl but defends her eggs successfully!

3:23 pm in rollback, Brit is up for a wing stretch and backs up for possibly a PS. Looks like an owl (maybe?) comes into the nest and Brit goes in defensive mode.

3:26 am in rollback, Brit is still vocalizing and flapping her wings.

3:30 pm in rollback, the owl returned again and again as Brit tried to lie down in the nest. Could hear the hooing from the owl.

3:31 am in rollback, the owl did a fly by and Brit defended again with extended wings and vocals.
