Good morning, everyone! Thanks for the weather report, Bev - and I love your new avatar, gemini! That's an impressive amount of snow for Surrey (more than we've had so far in my part of Maine, though that may change in the next few days) - thanks for zooming, CC!
I won't be online much today - will try to check for messages from time to time.
Have a good day, people and eagles, and stay warm!

0726 - The Eagles are not in a hurry to leave this morning. I cannot blame them, we're not used to this much snow this time of year either. I'm off to work for now but will check in later.

7:31 am in rollback, I think it is the new male who has a PS and then Res flew, followed by the new male.
“Eagles: When they walk, they stumble. They are not what one would call graceful. They were not designed to walk. They fly. And when they fly, oh, how they fly, so free, so graceful. They see from the sky what we never see.” – Unknown

7:32 am in rollback, Res lands in the nest, followed by the new male. They both do some digging in the nest.

7:36 am in rollback, Res flew. The new male watched for a bit then flew.
Have a question. Have ya'll come up with some identification markers for the new male. He looks to be a handsome eagle.“Eagles: When they walk, they stumble. Re: Surrey Reserve 2021-2022 Observation and Discussion
The only thing I've really noticed so far is that he has a lot of dark around his eyes (from Nov 21):
And all eagles have that to some extent, but it seems to stand out more with him. That said, I'm mostly going by the likelihood that if it isn't Res with cowlick visible, it's probably him.
CC and gemini - any thoughts?
Thanks for posting the morning activity!
I've moved the South cam so it shows the nest and distant perch - though not very clearly, since it appears the snow was blowing from that direction.

1507 - hi everyone! I've moved our icy South Cam closer to the Nests in hopes of close-ups in case Res and the New Male stop by the nest before retiring for the day.
I'll check the DVR in a few minutes.
Hi Sandy, really nice to see you here!
When that New Male lands in the Nest and I see him well on both cams, I immediately know it's him by those pale eyes of his. He's almost flawless to me and youthful if that makes sense. I have only been wrong (maybe?) once when I confused him with Sur and that was because the wind had blown his head feathers forward and that confused me until Judy pointed out why it wasn't Sur. I am studying his neck feathers to try and find something that stands out. That is probably useless information to you and anyone trying to tell them apart, but what I do know for sure is that he's big and absolutely stunning to look at.
I stare at Res long enough and that cowlick becomes obvious. It's even more obvious in the greyscale which is great because telling them apart by size is not something I can do yet.
All the scaps are of the New Male so you can see. I took about 70 scaps of him just that day (November 27). I have many many scaps of this guy.
I'll check the DVR in a few minutes.
