He tracked something for a few seconds and is doing some preening now.

This guy is finally getting some quality sleep after having TWO seemingly effortless and successful hunts today, a fish he consumed on the nest this morning, and half the prey he decided to keep for himself after Res pounced on him when he landed in the Nest. wow. Yesterday and the day before he also brought generous-sized fresh prey to the nest that Res seemed to be resisting up until yesterday and today.

continuing

Res (on left) grabs the food item and backs away with it.

The new male grabs first with his foot then with his beak and tries to get it back.

It eventually comes apart - I think he got the larger part, though they both have some.

The male flies off his part at 13:06:21, and Res eats hers on the nest.

8:55 pm Res visits the nest at 4:42 pm followed by the intruder. It's not a congenial visit ......

Good morning, CC. I have a question. When was the last time Sur was seen at the nest or nearby? Sending positives thoughts he is fine. :rh:
Hi Sandy nice to see you here!

We were trying to figure that out but I believe this was the last time Sur was seen in the territory at 0700 on November 21 - the New Male arrived to the Nest with a large prey item later on in the afternoon.

Scap of Sur leaving the perch by the buildings :(

Thank you, CC, for responding. And to everyone posting about the changes happening at Surrey. This time reminds me of when Pa from Delta went missing. It took several suitors to "court" Ma before Trooper came on the scene and won her over. There was one in particular we were not fond of as there were little ones in the nest and that male would come and steal the food. It took time as Trooper would guard the nest, Ma, and the little ones. He won our hearts as well. Hoping Res returns soon. :rh:

0600 - Good morning SR friends. Res is on her perch near the buildings, she's awake and ready to fly for the day.

I took a look for that New Male but did not see him around the nest. It's still quite dark.

Good morning Sandy (; I remember Ma and Pa's story, I wasn't around then but I read everything that happened in the forum. It was heartwrenching, especially with those babies in the Nest and the relentless attacks on Ma. I remember how Ma called softly for Pa.

This big guy has been coming around for weeks now, and things got confusing when Res and Sur were not coming to the nest for several days in a row. I thought the Nest had been lost to two Intruders but was so relieved when I realized it was Res and Sur when they showed up together, tired, hungry, and Sur was having so much fun doing Nest fittings, I thought it was over, and the New Male (that I initially thought was female and Res's challenger) had moved on. Well, here we are.

This New Male is truly a good provider so far but is being a jerk. I wonder if that is age-related?

Last time I saw Res and Sur together on the Nest and Sur in his Nestbowl on November 16.

If Sur isn't likely to return, can we clone the wonderful Trooper and send him Res's way?

:cry1: :grhug:

Well, that was not a good interaction at all, but it looks like that Male is overly excited and wants to "help" lol

Good morning Irisheyes (;

I'm going to have a very busy day today, will be driving a lot, and will unlikely be around much until later on this evening. I hope Res has a better day today or at least has a full crop. See you all later!
