1846 - Our New Male is snoozing and looking very regal
Our New Female is looking pretty headless right now, preening maybe?
I'll leave the cams where they are for now. Please feel free to move them.

I am heading to bed and will leave the north cam on the New Male through the night, and the South Cam on both Eagles and the nest. Please feel free to move them.

A final good night from the foggy but brightly moon-lit Surrey Reserve

0715/16 - The Eagles left one after the other as soon as I opened the streams I see they were perched together before that happened. I'll go check the DVR
0609 - Both Eagles were awake on their perches and alerting/calling
0610 - The New Female stumbles a bit in the dark while carefully moving up to the Nest.
The New Male flies down to join her

0611 - Competition for the Nest bowl with 'polite" body checking that is more like pushing
0612 - The New Female wins again? as the New Male leaves her to her digging and hops up on the lower perch.

0612 - The New Female does a bowl fitting while the New Male watches her

0613 - The New Female was finished in the bowl and then carefully moved over to perch beside the New Male. He turned to face her when she did
I am getting the feeling these two are getting closer. Mating season opens very soon no?

0617 - The New Male is perched where Res used to perch and the New Female is perched (a little lower) beside him where he perched when Res was around. The New Male is more familiar with the nest where the New Female has to navigate carefully in the dark.

0715/16 - We can see them both here just before the New Female flew first, followed by the New Male (pictured second)

Good morning, everyone! Thanks for starting our day, nightowl, and thanks for your observations, Lynne - there is a lot going on, and not many of us watching these days.
Thanks for the reminder on the new male's frayed feather, CC, and for noticing that the female may a bit of white on her back - good eye!
As you mentioned, I think these two eagles are becoming more comfortable together in a way that Res and the new male never achieved. I don't really expect eggs before late February (last year Sur and Res produced their first egg on February 24th, the earliest on our nests with cameras) - but these eagles could easily be on a different schedule, and we'll have to see what develops.
It is nice to see them spending the night in the nest tree part of the time - and thanks for the description of their morning routine, CC!
It's now 8:25 am, and I haven't seen any visits. It's quite lovely (though would be better with eagles) - and not raining.
Personal note - there's a winter storm warning where I am - we've had a few inches of snow which is now turning to rain, and are expecting winds to be picking up over the next few hours - so even though we live in town, we may lose power. If I disappear for a while, that will probably be why.

(Off topic - the worst of the weather missed us - all is well.)
2:50 pm
I just checked the dvr, and didn't see any activity - though I could have easily missed a quick visit to one of the perches. It does make sense that they might spend the day somewhere else after spending the night here.
