Re: Surrey Reserve 2021-2022 Observation and Discussion
Good morning, everyone! Thanks for posting the weather, Bev - it's not showing a lot of wind for Surrey - but it does look windy there.
Good to see the morning visit - thanks, Bev and gemini!
7:54 am
Nest is empty.
Added -
10:30 am
I checked the dvr and didn't see any activity.
I'm going to log into the South cam and pull it back so we can see more of the area.

Here comes Sur with a stick!
I'm going to try to log in on the South cam to look at the spot on his beak.

He is so good at standing perfectly still when I'm not trying to look at him....
OK - I'm pretty sure it's just dirt. Here are the s'caps I got from the cam.
It initially looked to me (who is not an expert!) as if there might be a break - this has a bit of the look that I saw first:
The rest of the pictures are more assuring (all but the last click much bigger).
And one smaller one of the other side
And he's flown off now, and I'm out of the cam, and it's time for my walk - back soon!

He' is handsome Judy .. enjoy your walk
Re: Surrey Reserve 2021-2022 Observation and Discussion
He is handsome, isn't he, Bev.
I forgot to post that Res arrived shortly after Sur, also with a branch; this is from 10:42 pm.
The nest was empty when I got back from my walk, and Res just arrived around 11:40 with yet another branch.
She's checking out the nest.
I'd think they would pick a less windy day to bring in branches, especially the big ones with leaves - but the wind probably does help them with lift - and they are very strong.
Sur arrived at 11:43 pm - I don't think he brought a branch - though they are bumping into each other as they each try to work in the same part of the nest.
Added - Sur's beak is looking more normal now.
Added -
Sur left at 11:50 am; Res had flown off a couple of minutes earlier.
It's now 1:25 pm; I checked the north cam dvr and didn't see any additional visits. And I don't see anyone on the distant perch, though I didn't check back on that.

This looks a bit ominous with the sun and the dark sky.
I'm logging in briefly to look around.
