Younger SR6 didn't seem very active - but it was a warm sunny moment.

Starting around 1:08 pm
I zoomed in some with the South cam - and I think Res heard me!
A little later, the chicks had moved over to beside the tree trunk to doze.

1:21 pm
SR5 decided to go stand by the adult, just in case there was food to be had.
SR6 looked as if s/he was going to get up and join the party.
And then...well, I think you just have to watch.
A Bit of Rivalry (45 seconds)
I'm not a fan of rivalry, though I know it's part of what helps both chicks grow into strong, smart eagles - but I loved watching how SR5 moved across the nest!

The chicks were sprawled out on the nest, dozing and occasionally popping up to look around, while Sur kept watch.
And perhaps Sur thought that was a good idea, because he moved around and settled down beside them.
From the South cam - one is in front of him, and the other back nearer the tree trunk by his side.

First, here's a closeup of Sur, just because.
I wondered a bit about the rivalry - and about the fact Sur didn't feed SR5 while s/he was standing front and center (though not peeping) - so I looked back quickly. It looks as if there have been a couple of feedings today - and the eaglets will be fed less often as they grow and the crops where they store food get bigger.
From 6:55 am
Both chicks lined up, and both getting bites (and SR6 maybe getting more initially). Res did the feeding from something left on the nest, and it looked to be getting a bit hard for her to find edible bits.
She covered them for a bit, then flew off; they were alone for a while; Sur arrived; and left. I lost track of the coming and going, but there wasn't any food brought in, and the chicks mostly slept (now that they're eating more at a time, they get to sleep more between feedings).
The chicks were alone for quite a while, then around 9:16 am, Res arrived and tried to find a bit of food on the bird carcass. This time it looked as if SR5 was up first. Both chicks got some bites, and they were preening between bites, so not appearing too hungry, though little eaglets always like to eat. It looked as if SR5 had a plump crop, and I also saw a crop bulge on SR6. It was a slow feeding because it was taking time to find bites, but the eaglets weren't in a hurry, so all was good. Res flew off around 9:40 am.

Re: Surrey Reserve 2020-2021 Observation and Discussion
Continuing from the dvr....
Res was back on the nest around 9:47, and didn't exactly brood her growing eaglets, but nestled beside them keeping them partly covered and shaded. She got up around 11:19 and did a bit of feeding (I posted a couple of images earlier, though I was more focused on feather development than food at the time). There wasn't much food, and now that I was watching for it, I see that older SR5 was eating first, and did go after SR6 when the younger eaglet tried to reach for a bite.
The feeding lasted until 11:26 pm, and I don't think SR6 got any (though it had been eating well earlier, and missing one meal isn't a big deal).
Res stayed sitting beside and semi-brooding the chicks until 12:56 pm when she flew off. SR5 is only a day and a half older, but is looking bigger - they really do grow that fast!
Sur arrived around 1:07 pm; he didn't do any feeding, just sat watching over and semi brooding the chicks, and eventually flew off at 2:45 pm.
There has been some rivalry, with SR5 going after SR6 - not a cause for concern, but a bit of a change from the way they've been acting. I suspect there's an amount of hungry and bored going on - and it's possible that something is interfering with they hunting today, since there has been an abundance of food on the nest until now.

It's now 3:15 pm
The chicks are dozing on the nest, occasionally looking around, preening, and going at each other (younger SR6 sometimes starts things, but SR5 is enough bigger now that SR6 wisely goes into submission quickly if the older eaglet responds). Here are a couple of pictures of them.

Sur is back - I thought with some food, though it's possible he found something on the nest. It looked as if he tried a bite, then walked away from it.
Quick ID check - the shadows make his eye look much darker.
The chicks apparently decided it wasn't worth getting up - they went back to sleeping in the shelter of the tree trunk.

Sur was doing some serious calling - looked as if something was flying around.
Things calmed down, and Sur flew off at 3:40 pm.
It's interesting how big the chicks look when we're zoomed in - and how small they look when you see them in that big nest!

Not easy to see, but a daring (or foolish) black bird arrived on the nest, looked around and grabbed a piece of nest material.
Not surprisingly, Res arrived back on the nest a moment later - they do keep an eye on things! She moved to the food pile and started working on the carcass - and SR5 is right there, getting fed, while SR6 continues to doze for a while.
3:55 pm
SR6 is up, and moving slowly towards the feeding.

Re: Surrey Reserve 2020-2021 Observation and Discussion
I can see a bit of a crop on SR6.
By the way, when I was looking back, I saw both chicks have healthy poop shots today, so while food is down a bit today, they have both been getting plenty.
SR5 saw SR6 moving closer and went after the younger chick, so as of 4 pm, only SR5 has had food this time. The older chick has had quite a bit, and may fall asleep before too long - but is still doing a good job of defending the feeding area against the younger one.

I'm actually leaving now - dinner time here. Thanks for checking in, Bev - and it would be great if Sur arrived with a nice fish or something.
