0821 - Adult in to feed some nestovers.. not much there. SR5 let SR6 know there would be none for them. The adult fed SR5 what was there and then flew. Poor SR6 is crying. A big meal is coming I'm sure.

0843 - Adult in with a fish! SR5 glares and nips at poor SR6, who is not in a great spot to move around the adult as they are both too close to the edge. Let's see how they do!

Ok, not sure what just happened. I thought we saw a fish delivery?? Our little SR6 did make their way around and snagged a couple of bites before the adult suddenly fled again. :dunno:

0856 - SR6 was walking around trying to self feed and calling out lots. More food is coming I'm sure.

0923 - another small feeding. Not sure if it was something new brought in but it's something stringy. SR6 was getting hit but also getting bites. Lots of noise around the nest. Competition for food maybe. The parents are doing what they can to feed those Chicks.

0932 SR5 and SR6 are calling out, listening to the noise around them and little SR6 is standing up and trying to self feed!

09:35:33 - for SR6 trying to self feed

0957 - Not sure if there are any Game of Thrones fans in the house, but at this stage of an Eaglet's development, they start to remind me of the Jon Snow character. I like to say, the Eaglets "Watch has Begun" I'm not just a bird nerd :w00t:

Came across SR5 sleeping with his/her head tucked today (well as tucked as it can be when his wings are too heavy to keep up) - don't know if he/she has done it before or not! How quickly they grow up!

11:17:am At the moment they are both sleeping except little SR6 is popping up to cheep every minute or so - calling for food probably.

Sur in with small feeding around 13:33 nest time. feeding over by 13:36 round that time Sur flys off.

Sr6 front and center, grabbing, grabbing those bites from Sur beak!!! Making sure he is faced away from Sr5 trying to get bites herself.

Sr5 did get a few bites this light snack but Sr6 kept at it not to let Sr5 intimidate.
Sr5 didn't really show any aggression to Sr6, Sr5 was just reaching into get bites that's how I took it anyway.

Sr6 searching and grabs few nest overs and trying self feeding himself.

Both eaglets are hungry and time for nice big meal.

Hunger will make you learn to fight for your survival in their world.

2:30 Another small meal in which SR6 got most of, was in a good position for the first few good bites and was really good at grabbing. They both had a decent meal. Parent flew off at 2:36

SR6 - 38 days old

More feathers every day.
20210512_003.jpg

And I do check their tails, because it's a place we can see the feathers growing, and pushing out the first coat of natal down that looks a bit like fluff on the end of the black feathers.

And of course they are hardly ever in the same position, but....

SR5 - 39 days old

Many more feathers visible, but SR6 is catching up.
20210512_005.jpg

And the tail.

Res in with food. Not obvious, but SR6 is right there in back of her.
20210512_007.jpg

Amazing how fast SR5 made it over there.
20210512_008.jpg

SR5 is definitely trying to get all the food, but SR6 is getting good at ducking and grabbing.

I think SR5 got most of it, but SR6 did get some.

Very fast feeding - Res flew off at 3:48 pm.

SR5 has some food in h/h crop.
20210512_013.jpg

Actually, they are both looking quite good.
20210512_014.jpg

And they're interested in something.
20210512_015.jpg

Older SR5 is on the left in the bottom two pictures - and is bigger, but not a huge amount bigger at this point.

For the record, I'm pretty sure what's in SR6's mouth is a bit of nest material, not harmful, though possibly annoying. It's dinner time here so I'll post my closeups quickly without a lot of discussion.

Probably, Bill - they both are trying, though don't have the "hold it down" part working quite yet, except by accident. But they're learning!

Back to the computer to see a feeding in progress. Res (I think) has something large, and is feeding SR6, while SR5 is sleeping.
20210512_025.jpg

Looking back with the dvr, She arrived at 4:40 am with something large.
20210512_026.jpg

Wow - from the other cam - I don't know what that is, but it's huge and already open.

SR5 was a bit assertive initially, but after a bit, both took turns fairly patiently (they are eagles, after all, so not too patient).

20210512_028.jpg

By 5:27 pm, even SR6 was full, and Res flew off.

4:50 A good meal happening for both babies. SR5 is getting the most but very hungry so that is ok. SR6 is getting his share too. The cam keeps freezing but the meal at 5:00 is slowly leaning more towards SR6 as I think SR5 is getting full! Yay!

5:22 SR6 is getting his own private feeding!

5:26 4 Meal finish and parent flew off with some food left. Great meal for both babies. :rh:

Glad you were able to watch more of the feeding, Darlene - not easy to catch it all on rewind.

And both eaglets seem ready for a nice long nap now, over beside the trunk at the far left.
20210512_031.jpg

And that sounds like a good plan to me as well - good night, everyone!

1932 - One heck of a feed is in progress. I'll will post some pics later unless the zoomers with the better clarity do before I get to it (;

SR6 was sitting on a pile of bloody remains squeeing non stop while trying to self feed. The adult finally arrived and started feeding them both. I saw a full crop on SR6 earlier so I don't know what the drama is? this feeding has been ongoing with SOOO many good bites going to SR6, yet they continue to scream and cheer. :dunno:

1939 - SR6 hasn't shut up lol. The adult starts plucking and preparing more food as clearly SR6 isn't done. SR5 moved away and looked like they were going to sleep but got interested when the adult started defeathering the black bird prey. SR6 is getting food shoveled in by the adult in between screams. MASSIVE, massive crops on both :D SF6 is shameless :rh: :fonz:

1947 - good grief SR6 is still going. Screaming and stuffing it in. Look at the size of this crop! SR5 moved away and is probably in a coma
