Tiku is 64 days old today, and Tucca is 63 days, or 9 weeks old.
Tucca's tail, because I was zoomed in:
Tucca is sleeping with his/her head tucked over the shoulder like an adult.
Tiku is working on nestovers.

Thank you.
What I saw was very thin and the first thing that came to mind was wire.
Could also be the fishing line which is no better.
At the nest in Washington National Arboretum one of the eaglets was caught between the branches of the nest and the rescue was put in motion. Seems like an eternity ago. The eaglet was freed, the rescue crew took her to a center overnight and she was returned the next day. Quite amazing.
Glad you are taking a look.

I'm keeping the cam mostly focused on Tucca (I'm pretty sure it's Tucca - what do you think?) so I can try to zoom in next time he/she gets up.Sandy wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 8:33 amThank you.

I'm hoping it's something that will get un-hooked by itself - the eaglets aren't old enough to fledge, but they are close enough that they might jump - in which case either or both could be injured or killed in the process.
And I can see it now - click twice to go to full size; this is direct from the cam so much clearer than the image from the video.

Well, drat - it sure looks like fish line or something of that nature to me.
I'll stay zoomed in with the hope of seeing how it's caught on Tucca.

Definitely fishing line.
Not a very good scenario if she stays entangled. Hopefully a good outcome.
Oh my, there is a reason why people are told to dispose of fishing lines properly.
I trout and I change my line every year and I am very careful disposing of it.
Oh my.

That is a lot of fishing line.
To be honest, quite frightening.
So we have one tangled in fishing line which could cut through a leg.
Possibility of both becoming entangled.
Possibility of one eaglet swallowing some of the line while eating.
Pleasant thoughts Sandy, just pleasant thoughts.
Time for a cup of tea. Oh my nerves.....

I think Tucca is Ok.
How about Tiku.

I'm trying to see how the line is wrapped around the foot - I have the cam close to full screen, so not easy to type. I'll have some screenshots in a while.
It's amazing how long an eaglet can stand and preen!
I think Tucca pulled the line with him/her when she moved away from the tree trunk - will check on Tiku once Tucca lifts her right foot. (I'm going with feminine pronouns today for speed - maybe tomorrow I'll switch.)

There's a lot of line there, but it all looks loose.

I can't tell if Tucca pulled free or if I confused whose feet are whose. I need to step away from the computer for a few minutes - back soon.

I know. I was watching and waiting and waiting some more.
Tucca seems to be very mobile.
Tiku not very active. Waiting for breakfast.
Hopefully both are fine but it was frightening when I saw the one eaglet fall over.
I will check back in. Going to check in on my neighbor.

Thanks for being here, Sandy!

These are Tiku's feet and I don't see any line on them.
This is Tiku preening - he or she really does have a head there somewhere.
This is Tucca sleeping on the nest, based on the white at the edge of the tail and the fact that she sleeps there a lot. (And I don't know her gender, but am using "her" today to simplify my sentence structure.)
I am logged out of the camera and am going to take a lunch break. Back in a while.

Look what I missed when work gets in the way! I'm taking a few minutes break and will log in and take a look. I saw One Eaglet (Tiku I think) flapping around quite well and then head over and bully the Tucca out of the sleeping spot. Tucca knew it too with the looks given to the sibling and some light beaking.
