It's getting a bit cloudier or something - and the water is higher. I may have seen a couple of birds fly by, but no idea what they might be.

The little dot on the water is a sailboat, though I think it may not have a sail up, or maybe just not easy to see. I can see the mast as it moves.

I'm going to move the cam back to the nest for the evening in a minute.

I've done a quick check of the dvr on the South cam and didn't see any activity at the nest. I've also had the sound up and haven't heard any eagles, though I haven't been near the computer the whole time.

I also checked the place the adults were perching a couple of days ago and a few other places, and not surprisingly didn't find anyone.

I'm out of both cams.

Good night, everyone!

Good morning, everyone!
20210728_001.jpg

North cam is frozen - I wrote Ken a message a couple of hours ago - but was interrupted and forgot to send it. :oops2: It's been sent now.

I have looked back a couple of times and didn't see anyone.

Added - courtesy of The Weather Network:

Heat Warning
Issued at 23:32 Tuesday 27 July 2021

Heat wave to develop over the later half of this week.

Locations: Metro Vancouver - Northeast, Metro Vancouver - Southeast, Fraser Valley.

Threat: Daytime high temperatures reaching the low 30's combined with overnight lows in the upper teens are expected.

Timeframe: Thursday to Sunday morning.

Remarks: A building ridge of high pressure will lead to rising temperatures for Thursday and into the weekend. Daytime highs reaching the low 30's combined with overnight lows in the upper teens are forecast Thursday through Sunday morning.

Relatively cooler temperatures are in store for the south coast beginning on Sunday.

30C = 86F and 20C = 68F, so not as hot as the week Tiku and Tucca fledged, but I suspect they (and perhaps Sur and Res) are happy to be a bit further north where the weather may be a bit cooler.

Both cams are streaming - thanks, Ken!

I looked around a little with the South cam and didn't see anyone.

And I checked the dvr, and didn't see anyone.

It's hard to know - they don't file a flight plan - but I think the adults may not have left yet.

There are two reasons for that. The first is that last year they disappeared for almost two weeks starting around the time that Thor left - but then they came back and did some work on the nest for a couple of weeks, before finally taking their major vacation starting on August 14. (see 2019-2020 Notable Dates for details)

The second reason is that it's not unusual for a flock of little birds to come in and clean the nest once the eagles are gone - and I haven't seen these "merry maids" yet. I have no idea how they know the eagles are really gone - but it seems that they do. And that doesn't always happen - but when I see it, I tend to believe the eagles are on vacation.

Glad you caught the visit to the perch tree, gemini - fortunately he(?) seems to stay there for a while, making it easier to spot him. (They may both use that perch, but it seems that most of the time when I've been able to zoom in and get an ID, it's been Sur there - so I tend to assume it's him.)

I've checked the dvr and didn't see any visits.

I looked back to gemini's post - lovely sunrise, but no eagles to be seen.

I also looked around a bit, and didn't see anyone. I suspect they are still in the area and may be checking back every few days (or may be watching from an even more distant perch) - but they may have headed north where it's a bit cooler.

I am out of the cams.
