2015 - SR6 is still receiving bites from a prone position (they can no longer hold the weight of their crop!?) :D The adult has done their duty and suddenly flies. Well done Adult and what an incredible feed for these two tonight.

Great description and scaps of that last feed CC398! I won't bother posting my scaps but I will post a video of SR doing his best to feed him/her self!

:vid: SR6 feeds him/herself!

After that wonderful feed and Mom left, the kids retired to their sleeping spots.

3:36 am And she has been MIA all evening -the kid's first night alone! But I bet she's well within sight of the nest!

Good morning, everyone! Wonderful to hear that both had so much food last night! Great reporting, CC398, and wonderful to have a video of SR6 self-feeding!

And thanks for posting the date every night, nightowl - it is so helpful when I'm scrolling through quickly looking for something.

5:58 am
The eaglets are sleeping - and it's a beautiful misty spring morning.

This one clicks much larger, just because it was so beautiful.

And our eaglets, in the lovely light.

Younger eaglet SR6 is 39 days old.

He or she rarely stays still long enough for me to really get a good look at the growing feathers on h/h wings - but this time I got some s'caps. These click bigger.

Older chick SR5 is 40 days old today.

S/he didn't want to show wing feather development this morning, but you can see the sheathes as the eaglet is preening.

And a glimpse here. Also note what a good job SR5 is doing standing like an adult!

07:29:38 - The mate arrives from the other side of the nest with yet another food item! SR6 sees their chance, heads right on over and is getting fed many bites from that offering! The other adult leaves and the feeding continues.

Good Morning,

7:28 nest time , Sur in with meal, Sur feeding Sr5, Sr5 getting most bites while
Sr6 watches, feeding over 7:30, Res fly's in with food, Sur takes off.

7:30 nest time Res in with meal, something big. Res feeds Sr6 , Sr6right up there
for breakfast,, Sr5 watches, Sr5 makes way over to Feeding,, Res begins to feed both eaglets.
Sr6 chattering away while eating , how do they keep talking and eating same time.
Sr6 continues to sqee for more food and eat same time. so cute when they chatter and eat same time.
Sr5 took a little rest from eating and back up to get some more of that good breakfast.

Very calm feeding, both getting fed by Res.

Can tell them apart right now for Sr5 has more dark coloring coming in more and more each day, where Sr6 starting to get darker feathers.
Amazing how Sr6 has caught up in size some to Sr5, Sr5 is still bit bigger but Sr6 growth certainly noticeable now.

Both having a nice big breakfast this am to start the day.

A good morning breakfast indeed. :)

08:20 - After the big feeding, the Chicks are so full. The adult moves some sticks and grasses around before leaving. Great job Sur and Res!
