Continuing....

11:12 am
I'm not sure if Res brought food. The chicks didn't rush over, so maybe not. But SR6 looked as if h/she was trying to move some food down from the crop to make more room. It may not have worked - Res is offering food, but SR6 isn't taking any.

The head movements may also have been SR6 trying to cast a pellet, which is how eagles get rid of things they eat but can't digest, like feathers and bones. I suspect food can only go one way at a time, so if a pellet is getting ready to come up, there may not be a way for food to go down. After a bit, SR6 lay down in a slightly strange position, and SR5 got up and came over.

Res fed SR5 some leftovers, and then did a bit of digging in the nest where SR6 was trying to sleep. SR6 and h/h very big crop got up for a few minutes.

Continuing....

11:27 am
Before long, SR6 was asleep again, and SR5 was dozing and looking around the nest, and Res was sitting with the kids.

Res was doing some poking around in the nest and found something that might be food (or might have been once) and she pulled it out and moved over to the "pantry" area - and for once, no one followed her!

SR6 did sit up eventually, and Res came over to offer the chick a bite, but I'm not sure if SR6 took it.

11:32:34 am
Not sure from this angle, but I think SR6 may have just cast a pellet - it looked a bit as if SR6 was coughing or throwing up, but I didn't see if anything came out.
20210510_021.jpg

After her snack, Res came back and sat near SR6 until about 12:15 pm, when she got up and flew off.

It's now 12:42 pm, and both eaglets are sleeping in the dappled sunlight.

Added -
I also looked at the South cam during the pellet time frame, and I'm pretty sure that's what happened. Nothing that would work for a picture.

I know there have been a couple more feedings, and I think everyone is doing great - I saw both eaglets getting fed, though I don't know who got fed how much at which feeding.

SR5 is wandering around the nest like a big eagle
20210510_027.jpg

and SR6 is sleeping and growing over by the trunk - you can see a wing stretch out from time to time.

I'm afraid it's time for me to call it a day - good night, people and eagles. :offtobed:

2:50 am Picking up where JudyB left off....

The kids were on their own alternating between sleeping and wandering around.

Mom arived at 7:22 pm.

7:23 pm She looked for and found some leftovers to offer the kids

7:54 pm Feed over Mom left. It was a long feed of mostly bones and feathers with the odd chunk of what looked like meat tissue. First SR6 got fed while SR5 looked on then SR5 got fed while SR6 looked on. It was an equitable meal all and all.

Cont:d ......

Mom arrived back at 8:56 and went to sit with her chicks
2021-05-10 8-57 pm.jpg

Again she found some leftovers to work on and the kids were hot on her talons!

9:04 pm Even though the kids were waiting patiently (except for the constant chirping by both) it was pretty obvious by now that Mom wasn't into sharing despite SR6 managing to insert h/h self right under her beak! Mom must have been hungry!

0557 - An adult arrives with fish I think. Both Eaglets are cheering and line up. Both got yummy bites. At about the 0559:40 mark, little SR6 stole a nice bite right out to SR5'S beak!

a hearty breakfast for both Eaglets

0608 - the adult is done with the feed and flies. Both chicks have a PS and head over to their bowl to rest. An adult lands and starts to feed again. SR5 tries to get fed lying down but eventually gets up and moves closer to get bites. SR6 decides to join in and gets more bites. What great parents these Eaglets have. :bye 1:

Good morning, everyone! Thanks for posting the weather, Bev - I think 18C is around 65F - a lovely warm spring day! And wonderful to hear about the evening and morning food deliveries - thanks, gemini and CC!

Here are a few closeups - SR5 is 38 days old and SR6 is 37 days old. Doesn't SR5 suddenly look like a big eaglet!

Hard to get much of a closeup of SR6 at this angle.

A bit further back
20210511_005.jpg

It looks as if SR6 is quite near the edge, and SR5 is back a bit - but looks can be deceiving!
20210511_007.jpg

And even SR5 isn't as close as it appears, though it's not that obvious since I was focused on feathers here.

Continuing....

This is zoomed in a bit more - SR6 is harder to see against the nest with less feathers and more down still; he or she was watching something, but I couldn't tell what (I took a quick look with the North cam after I finished closeups).
20210511_009.jpg

I was hoping for a wing stretch while I was zoomed in, but this is the best I got - they move very fast at times.
20210511_010.jpg

This was from a little earlier - not as zoomed, but a better look at the feathers coming in.
20210511_010.jpg

I have some things to do on the computer, so I'll leave the cams zoomed in for a while.

Actually, North isn't zoomed in - I think the chicks got bigger. This is from April 11, one month ago - and it is zoomed in:

Res was in with something - and both chicks had a quick feeding. I was setting up to get a screenshot, and....
20210511_011.jpg

Fortunately, we have the dvr....
20210511_012.jpg

There appeared to be some grass or something included when she arrived, so maybe something grabbed from the ground. Both chicks got some bites, and SR5 seemed to be doing a bit of self-feeding from whatever she was serving.
