Congratulations to all and Sur and Res for the exciting news of a pip. Woohoo for exciting times at Surrey! :rh:

Thanks, Sandy! It's getting exciting here!

Res was up a couple of minutes ago to dig around and turn the eggs, but was keeping them hidden from the cam most of the time. Hopefully next time she'll stand on the other side of the nest - they do seem to have a rotation of sorts while incubating!

Time for dinner here - I'll try to check back in a little while.

I'll probably also be heading to bed soon - and I'm very curious to know what tomorrow will bring.

Good night, everyone! :offtobed:

6:50 PM Mom just got up and in the process stepped on the hatching egg - don't know if that was a good thing or not! Hopefully the egg was already broken!

:vid: Mom accidentally steps on hatching egg!

I cringe every time I watch it!

More views of the hatching egg

Hi Sharon! Praying everything is good with the little one. Can hear lots of chirping as Mom moves around. Here’s a s’cap from 8:29 pm.

Thanks, Sue! I've been so busy making videos, I didn't realize I didn't have the sound up on my computer! Glad to hear there is chirping!

Here's another look see!

:vid: Some more looks at the chick

8:55 pm I just took a look at the first video with the second egg in mind and I am wondering if this is a pip in it or is it a piece of the egg shell from the other egg?

I just had a chat with David H and he said if the chick can manage to push itself out of the rest of the egg shell it likely will be okay. As for the second egg he said it did look like some shell had been removed leaving the membrane intact but it could just be shell from the first egg stuck to it. He was reluctant to say one way or the other. So we wait

3:03 am This video is a compilation of egg rolls from 10:38 pm -1:22 am as the little chick slowly emerges from the shell -

:vid: Hatching chick

At 1:24 am it looked to me like the wee one was finally free of the shell or maybe earlier?? (I defer to your decision JudyB!)

:vid:I'm here (I think!) and I'm okay even if my Mommy did step on me!

Good morning, everyone! Thanks for keeping watch overnight, gemini, and for the videos and checking with David Hancock - I'll take a look at them in a few minutes. And thanks for the weather and the morning reports, Bev.

6:16 am
Res is looking restless so I'm going to try to log in on North.
20200405_001.jpg

6:25 am
My first look at the tiny one, from the direct link - he or she didn't get up, but was moving his/her wing during the very brief glimpse. No real view of the second egg - but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was starting the hatch process; today is day 35 for the second egg, and last year the second egg hatched on day 36, and likely started hatching a day earlier.

6:31 am
Res is calling - hoping Sur shows up for a turn.
