Carrying on from Bev's last post - thanks for posting Bev!

2:40 pm Thor having a rest after working hard on the flat fish! It's tough! H/S is calling out off and on for a parent probably to come and help!
7-12-2020 2-40 pm.jpg

2:54 pm Thor finally gives up calling and tackles the fish again!
7-12-2020 2-54 pm.jpg

3:13 pm Thor drags h/h fish to the other side of the nest and pounces on it! I think h/s is getting frustrated with it as it is slow going getting bites from this fish!

Cont'd....

4:24 pm Res in with something!

Thor doesn't waste time claiming the new prey as Mom escapes before she is pushed

:vid: Thor claims the prey and Mom escapes! (:15)

Added later:

The more I look at the video, the more I think that Mom did not bring in new prey - Thor grabbed the rest of the flatfish that was brought in from last time. H/S is still not impressed with it!

Thank you for the reports, Bev and gemini - happy to hear that Thor is still around, and that we've had a sighting of Mom Res.

5:33 pm
Thor is on the upper perch/curve in the trunk of the tree - and calling for food.

Hello everyone,

Checking in on Thor and the nest. Following on Irish Eyes' recent post; she was screeping intermittently and then flew down from the upper branch and found some nestovers that's she's been working on for a several minutes now.

Suddenly something has caught her attention and she's looking all around.

Now back to important matters: eating. Looks like whatever nestovers it is, it's providing a decent meal.

I'll be away offline for several days; will miss checking in and seeing how Thor is doing. She could be gone forever when I return!
Fingers crossed for Loki; s/he's still in my thoughts and prayers, and I hope to hear good news soon. :bye 1:

Good morning, everyone! Thank you for your reports, Bev, Tia and gemini! I'm glad you had a sighting of Res - I hadn't seen her for a while. And of course every sighting of Thor is precious now (not that they weren't all along - but you know what I mean  ).

Loki is 14 weeks old today - Happy Hatch Day!

I was in touch with someone who volunteers at OWL, and she said that based on weight, they think Loki is female (4.5 kg/9.9 pounds). The only sign of possible electrocution is a black area on one of the toes, which wasn't obvious to the person who watched her flight checks (though that was from a distance). Loki is in a flight cage with two "siblings" and a foster parent; she's flying very well and lands well on the perches and looks really good.

I'll try to check with David later today to see if he has plans to check on her this week, and learn if he has any information about when/how she might be released - and see if he can get a picture of her. I'm thinking it may be too late to release her back at the nest - but I really don't know how those decisions are made.

I'm sorry we haven't been able to watch her become the confident young eagle she is becoming - and very happy to hear that she is doing well. :)

Added - almost forgot - I checked the dvr and didn't see any visits yet this morning.
