Good morning, everyone!

7:29 am
I arrived at my computer a few minutes ago to find both eagles on the nest! The dvr is acting up again, but it appears that the first one arrived about 7:11 and the second shortly afterwards.

Here are a couple of pictures.

7:31 am
While I was trying to get a picture from the dvr, the second one came back!

7:33 am
Cam has just switched to color, and Sur(?) has left; Res is still standing there, looking around.

7:34 am
Back with another stick, then off again. Actually, I'm not sure which one left this time. They are fun to watch, but I have other things I need to do, so I'll be back in a while.

I think this is Res, though I'm not sure. I'm posting this because the tail looks odd. I'm guessing a feather is caught on a branch or something, but hard to tell.

I should probably try rebooting North to see if it helps with the dvr - I'll see if I can get a closeup when I go in.

It looks as if the feather on the right is being pushed over by a stick.
20191015_008.jpg

And I'm seeing a bit of gray on the edge of that feather - which makes me think it might be Sur.

Moving up, I'm seeing tattered older brown feathers and shiny new black feathers, part of the continual replacement process.

And he or she is giving me a nice look at the left eye, but the right eye is the best indicator for Sur (at least for me, at least most of the time!).

Finally - I think this is Sur, the master of standing around in the nest.
20191015_011.jpg

And I think he needs to wipe his beak - I think he pulled out the bit of down from his back, but he doesn't look terribly regal with bit of fluff on his beak.
20191015_012.jpg

I can't decide if he still has a bit of dark feathers on his head, or if they're shadows. He did a great job last year - and I wondered sometimes if he was a young male.

7:56 am
Sur made a couple of soft cries a few minutes ago, and he just flew off. I heard a call in the distance after he left - not sure who.

I just tried the dvr, and now it seems to be working. So I didn't reboot. And it didn't pixelate while I was logged in. Gemini, please feel free to reboot if it's acting up when you check - and I'll check again a little later. Bye!

Sigh.

I realized I didn't get a picture of his tail once he moved away from the stick, so went to get that from the dvr - it's back to the slideshow (which is sort of interesting because there are eagles, but hard to get a picture).

Here's the tail, still looking a bit odd.

And I'm off to reboot.

I am checking the dvr, and found there was a visit around 8:30 am with a lot of stick movement; some parts were very jumpy, but now that I'm recording, it seems to have straightened out. I'll add a couple of pictures in a few minutes.

Hmm - it is getting near Halloween - you don't suppose YouTube is haunted, do you? :w00t:

Added -

It's not obvious from the still picture, but they really were working together here to settle a large Y-shaped branch on the edged of the nest. I enjoy watching them work together.
20191015_015.jpg

The edges are definitely getting built up nicely!
20191015_016.jpg

Sur flew off around 8:38 am, and Res left a little later. I wasn't paying close attention, but one or both were back a couple of times - and the dvr was choppy again.

I'm adding an 8-minute video, assuming I can upload it - it's choppy at the beginning but then smooths out, and has more stick work than standing about.

:vid: The Nest is Growing (8 minutes)

Brief visit by Sur - quietly in, stood for a minute or so, then quietly out.

I haven't been in sight of the computer constantly, but have had it up much of the time and haven't seen any other visits since my previous post.

Good morning, everyone! I just did a quick look back on the dvr and there was a visit by both around 6:08 pm yesterday.

I think this Res who arrived first.
20191015_018.jpg

Both of them digging in the nest.
20191015_019.jpg

I've noticed some gray above Sur's right eye, and I think he was scratching that area yesterday, so it's probably dirt - they don't necessarily wipe their feet after digging in the nest!
20191015_020.jpg

Res left at 6:13 pm, Sur a minute or two later.

It's now 7:23 am, and I didn't see any additional visits, live or on dvr. The dvr was behaving normally while I was watching the visit from yesterday evening.

Sur and Res on the nest. Sur, on the left, appears to have a dirty feather on his neck - I'm wondering if the nearby mud flats are especially muddy today. :)
20191016_001.jpg

Seems very windy today - they were hunkering down. South cam is pixelating - maybe because of the wind but I'll try a reboot just in case.

12:20 pm
Res has left, but Sur is still there.

9:55 am Res arrived at 8:34 am with a stick and Sur came in shortly after at 8:42. Res left at 8:43 and came back with another stick a minute later. They worked on the nest for a bit then Res left again at 8:49, returning once again with a stick at 8:51. They both worked on the nest again - Res left at 8:59. Sur, as far as I could tell from the thumbnail on the DVR, hung around in the same spot looking until 9:30 am.

I have a dentist appointment so no time to post scaps - sorry! I'll try and post some later today.

Watch on DVR if you can - they were quite amusing!

Thanks, Bev and gemini! I found spinning circles when I brought up the cams this morning, but look what this circle had! Time stamp is 7:34 am.
20191017_001.jpg

Whoever it was, they were there from 7:26 - 7:35 am. I was leaning towards Sur but didn't see dark when he flew off.

The only other visit I found from this morning is the one you documented, gemini - watched a little of it, and it is fun. They did look a little windblown at times!
