Good morning, everyone, and thanks for posting the weather, Bev.

8:11 am
I checked the dvr back to Bev's post and didn't see any activity. It's still cold in Surrey, but it looks as if the snow on the nest may be melting a bit, and happily I'm not yet seeing any of the expected snow and freezing rain.

I'll take a quick look on the cams.

Not a very clear look at the perch tree we can see with the North cam - but I don't see any eagles.

And I'm not seeing any eagles near the water from the North cam.

The North embedded cam didn't get pixelated while I was zooming - it does sometimes, though I don't know what the trigger is.

On the South cam now.

Here's our look at the far perch on the left - the gap on the right side of the tree on the horizon - and there's no one there. Yesterday when I tried to look, the wind was blowing so hard that the tall tree closer to the cam partially blocked the view.
20200116_004.jpg

Here's a closer look at that perch - it's the preset called adult_perch.
20200116_005.jpg

This is another place we've seen adults before - it's the preset named another_distant_perch, and is a bit to the left of Adult_Perch. I moved the cam a bit from the preset to try to improve the focus, but it's a bit fuzzy still. I don't see any white heads or tails.

As I was getting ready to check by the water, I did see someone fly up and out - large bird but not sure what kind.
20200116_009.jpg

No one up above the nest (at least no one we can see - the cams aren't made to look up).
20200116_010.jpg

I mostly look at the woods for obvious reasons - but there are a lot of houses (or condos) around.

The South cam has a better view of the white cliffs of Point Roberts, and of the trees by the water where we sometimes see eagles. I'm not seeing any there today. The West_to_Pt_Roberts_WA preset is zoomed at 14.7, which is about half of its full 30X zoom, so we can get a closer look when we see someone on those trees.
20200116_012.jpg

Panning to the right - more trees, no eagles (at least on the cam side of the tree).
20200116_013.jpg

Further to the right - still not seeing anyone.
20200116_014.jpg

End of the morning tour! A lovely morning to look around, but I'm sorry we didn't see any eagles (unless that bird was an eagle...).

12:07 pm Checked the DVR and no eagles that I could see. Watched your tour JudyB - thank you - as you said nothing to see there either. There sure are a lot of new condos that have gone up this year!

We have visitors! Actually not visitors - they are the residents, after all - but it's surprising to see eagles on the nest these days.

They arrived about 12:30, one after the other, and started working on the nest.
20200116_031.jpg

There was one interesting transaction where one almost passed the stick to the other to place - didn't get a picture of that, of course.

They are handsome enough that it's hard to avoid taking tons of pictures!
20200116_030.jpg

One of them - almost sure it was Res - flew off at 12:45 pm. Here are a couple of s'caps of the one who remained.

He flew off at 1:03 pm.

Sur flew off to the left (south cam perspective, so if the cam is looking north, I think he flew to the west), and I heard calls fairly close to the cam afterwards - so I logged into the South cam - and see what I found!
20200116_032.jpg

I made a preset of the above position on South cam called Perch_to_Far_Left (I'm running out of ways of saying "yet another possible perch spot" - suggestions welcome).

This is zoomed in about as far as I can go and still see both of them; unfortunately the one in the upper right (Sur?) is in the fuzzy zone that happens near the top of the dome on the cam.
20200116_033.jpg

And here I'm trying to connect this to known locations, without showing too much of the buildings underneath. The eagles are in the tree on the left. On the far right you can see the distant evergreen with the gap to the right of the trunk where we've occasionally seen them perch. If you panned further to the right, you'd see the tall tree to the left of the nest, and then the edge of the nest tree.

Continuing to pull the cam back - you can now see the outside branches of the nest tree on the right.
20200116_035.jpg

And now I've moved the cam back to the preset, and will leave it there for a bit.

1:30 pm
I have some things I need to do away from the computer, and I'm pretty sure that Sur and Res can stand and look from a perch a whole lot longer than they s&l on the nest - so I'm going to leave the South cam watching them and the North cam on the nest. I did zoom in a bit closer:
20200116_036.jpg

Back in a little while (and logging out of South while I'm away from the computer).

They are back on the nest.
20200116_037.jpg

I'm going to leave the cams where they are to see if they go back there; will be back in a little while to check the dvr.

No one on the tree where they were, but one of them is on the perch that we can see on the far left below.
20200116_039.jpg

A closer look:
20200116_038.jpg

I'll leave the cam there for a while.

3:48 pm
I forgot that I can actually zoom in closer - this is at full zoom.
20200116_040.jpg

Almost dinner time - I'll be back in a while. (I am logged off the cam if another zoomer wants to move it.)

Added -
Walked by in time to see the eagle on the distant perch fly off at 4:13 pm. I'll put the cam back on the nest, and try to be back later to do a summary from the dvr.
